Scrubs come off the bench for the rest of the game, thirsty for points, running up & down the court like a bunch of idiots, exchanging uncontested points trying to pad their stats, and put up the highest scoring quarter of the game to push it over the total...

It’s amazing how 30 points can be scored in the last 4 mins of a game. Blowout or close games produce more points in the 4th with both teams being in the bonus and the (seems to never work) fouling to try to climb back in the game!

That was the right play with the lead without the force at the plate .

This is very true in the the type of basketball games you pointed out.
It is the opposite in other sports when the bench players come in. Not much scoring after that. But in hoops the bench players feel the desire to impress anyone they can with a free for all. It’s als on the coaches for allowing it and his backup players who are up by so much to continue pushing the issue.
