What up fellas I am new to the forum

I really like OSU this for covering the spread. There schedule is soft.

It will be interesting to see where the line is for the USC game.

The other games they might a hard time covering is Mich. & Mich St.
I don't think they have covered aginst Mich. in the last 3 years.

That gives about 8 games that dare to say might be good games to cover on.

The one hole I see in their offense is the QB that likes to hold the ball for ever.

Feedback? Thoughts?

Buckeyes covered against Michigan last year

Seen USC -4.5 against Ohio State

Beckman will be just fine and Prior will be just like Tebow when called on

They haven't covered the spread against the Illini the last 3 years and out of the last 10 years they covered maybe covered once or twice (don't have that stat handy). For some reason this is a tough game for OSU, even when UI was a bottom feeder in the Big10. I would put that down as a game not to take the Bucks in.

They usually play them before the Michigan game so that could be a reason but just some food for thought.

I do like your way of thinking otherwise though because any team that doesn't make many mistakes, plays good defense, and has good special teams usually covers a lot of spreads. That's why I take V Tech pretty much all year long.

BTW, Go Bugeyes!!! They're gonna kill Ohio U (gm 2), but lose to YSU ATS. Tressel won't run it up on his former team/town.

Not sure what that has to do with their ATS record during the season?

That's like saying Florida lost SU as an 11 pt favorite to a Big Ten team so we should not take them ATS all season?

Oklahoma has lost 2 straight bowl games as a touchdown favorite so don't bet on them all season.

Please follow those guidelines, and I'll enjoy making money fading you.

Isn't tOSU @ -110 to win the Big 10 a LOCK???

Ok, nothing's a lock. But -110 seems like very good odds. By comparison, the only other dominant team to win their conf is USC and they give -350 to win the Pac 10.

Look at other conf's and the odds-on fav.

WVU +105

Okla +125

UGA +150

tOSU is much more dominant to win the Big 10. They return almost all starters. Have a fantastic coach. And the rest of the Big 10 seems down.

Am I missing something?

i guess Pryor is going to get some serious PT from what the practice reports are saying. This could be an element of OSU that hasn't been factored into the line yet and could pay dividends if he plays like a #1 recruit. I mean the kid is 6"6 and runs a 4.4, that could really open things up on offense. He won't be throwing much but he's got a good arm from the video I've seen.

Well said. Many people confuse this website for scout.com fan sites. I am sure I have been guilty of that in the past, as I am an OSU alum and diehard Buckeye, but at the end of the day, I follow the money.

I generally do not play OSU when laying heavy numbers, they tend to be like Miami was back in the Day. The Canes could hang 80 on some teams and would end up winning by 20 or 25 instead of the 30 points they were favored. The Temple game comes to mind. I am talking about the 01,02,03 Canes. Now Shannon is just hoping for a win.

I do believe that their is good value in OSU winning the Big 10, as Wisky will be their toughest game and biggest threat. Also, keep an eye on MSU.

It is too early to say, take OSU or take the other side beyond week 1.

OSU did have stretch from 2005 to 2006 where they covered, I believe 12 or 14 straight games.

@ Camp Randall

@ Mich. St.

@ Ill.

Yes they have Penn St. and Michigan at home this year, but their in conference road schedule is difficult. Not to mention @ USC, and a Troy team that is getting better and better every season.

I do agree the Bucks are the best team in the Big Ten this season, but there is a reason Vegas wants you on that line. Seems to easy, doesn't it?

Good post Bigtendom! Too many on here confuse this with a fan site. Sure it's fun to talk smack to each other, but at the end of the day this site is about investing money in a college football game! I'm a UF grad....and I can assure you I don't wager on them unless I am absolutely sure they will cover (and I've followed my heart a few too many times and lost the money). I'm going to be watching your Buckeyes this year. I think they have as good a shot as anyone to win it all (and cover a lot of their spreads). If they make it back to the NC game it will be hard to bet against them (for me), as I believe "three's a charm" (theory).

I think a lot of big ten teams are going to improve this year with the excecption of Michigan, who won't be as bad a people think especially towards the end of the season, Indianna, and maybe Purdue. This will make things harder on the Buckeyes.

Michigan St - better IMO
Illinois - better IMO (harder schedule so less wins)
Wisconsin - same
Iowa - better (lost 80% of their offensive starters last year and are now healthy but don't play OSU)
Penn St. - better
Northwestern - better
Minny - will be better but won't matter against top 10 teams

Vegas must think they will have more trouble getting through the Big Ten unscaved and I think loosing to Illinois last year was a sign of things to come. They are still the best team by far but when the bottom and middle teams of the Big 10 get better it changes things.

I'm really liking OSU this season..Experienced team and QB coming off a NC game. If they can figure a way to beat USC, they should be in it again.

Ohio State football: Washington, O'Neal suspended for first two games -- (which includes USC)

Posted by Doug Lesmerises August 07, 2008 20:02PM

Ohio State defensive backs Donald Washington and Jamario O'Neal are both suspended for the first two games of the season. Both players confirmed their status this evening after months of speculation dating back to off-field matters in the spring.
Ohio State coach Jim Tressel had been vague about their punishment, but on Monday promised a resolution in the coming days. With all the Buckeye players available to the media today on team photo day, both players talked their status without disclosing exactly why they are in trouble.
Washington, a junior, is a starting cornerback, while O'Neal, a senior, had been in contention this spring to be the nickelback on passing downs.
Sophomore Chimdi Chekwa is the most likely candidate to replace Washington at corner for the first two games, while the nickelback job should be up for grabs during the preseason.

Wisky is their tougest road game, but they will have tough games at MSU. I don't think Illinois will be that good this year. I think people will realize that until Juice can be a consistent passer, they will not do anything. I look for Benn to be a player and for Zooker to get him the ball. MSU will be a very good team this year, but I think OSU's experience and talent will prevail.

The Wisky game is still a toss up. OSU has left 2 possible National Titles at Camp Randle in '93 and '03, so if they lost I wouldn't call it a suprise at all. Wisky has owned Tressel.

I am not saying OSU is like Memphis in CBB to win CUSA, but they should be able to win the league. OSU last season had a win total of 9, that was one of the easiest over bets ever. I have been wrong many times before, but this team is very good, probably Tressel's best team, I think they win the conference title. I have followed the Big10 religiously for 15 years, while you raise good points, I do believe that should be able to handle all challengers. Again, a Wisky loss would not shock me.

Go Sooners,

How concerned are you about the D? Please do not lose to UT.

I think the Offense is going to be the highest scoring team in the nation with Florida. Defensively, I think they are solid, but not going to be great like some of the D's under Stoops/Venebals.

Also, Wil Muschamp being the new DC at Texas and the Minor Blackbanana running the offense scares me. I still don't think Texas will be able to get past OU, but it will be tight.
