McCain can win this thing...don't let the media or the dupes fool you. It's about momentum now...and McCain has it.

Day 21: IBD/TIPP Tracking Poll

The race tightened again Sunday as independents who'd been leaning to Obama shifted to McCain to leave that key group a toss-up. McCain also pulled even in the Midwest, moved back into the lead with men, padded his gains among Protestants and Catholics, and is favored for the first time by high school graduates.

John McCain has spent his life serving our country and fighting for a cause greater than himself. His record of reform proves he will always put our country first and in these challenging times we need someone with a bold and fair plan to take our country in a new direction. We need John McCain.

Please take the time today to compare the McCain-Palin vision for America with Barack Obama's using the chart below and forward this message on to at least 5 voters you know.

Moderates 60-29 for Obama. This is going to be a bigger landslide than I thought.

Looks like McCain's only hope is if the farmers and rural redneck vote sweeps in heavy on Tuesday

Now all those polls are starting to back track...so predictable.

Pew Suddenly Says 'Nevermind' About Tuesday's Shocking Numbers

Can I call shenanigans on the Pew Research Center?

On Tuesday, they told us:

Barack Obama leads John McCain by a 52% to 36% margin in Pew's latest nationwide survey of 1,325 registered voters... When the sample is narrowed to those most likely to vote, Obama leads by 53% to 38%.

Tonight, they tell us:

In the campaign's final week, McCain is getting the boost that Republican candidates typically receive when the sample is narrowed from the base of 2,995 registered voters to those most likely to vote. Among all registered voters, Obama leads by 50% to 39%. His lead had been 16 points among registered voters (52% to 36%) in Pew's previous survey, conducted Oct. 23-26.

Pew's final survey indicates that the remaining undecided vote breaks slightly in McCain's favor. When both turnout and the probable decisions of undecided voters are taken into account in Pew's final estimate, Obama holds a 52% to 46% advantage, with 1% each going to Ralph Nader and Bob Barr.

Really? Obama's lead shrunk from fifteen to six in five days?

Is it possible the lead was never that high, guys?

46.7 to 44.6 is a tie????

It would be well within the margin of error. Of course that poll is BS. There are enough polls that the best course is to toss the outliers and look at an avg of the normal numbers. Pretty easy to see that it is right in that 5 to 8 point range.

Yes...a statistical tie within the margin of error.

Now that I've blown your mind with that little crumb...show us again how incredibly ignorant you are of polling basics.

This is very convincing. I especially like how everything is backed up with facts and nothing is taken out of context or fabricated.

I'm switching my vote to the old guy teeming with cancer and the secessionist who speaks in tongues.

The polls are hit & miss. The past history you should be looking at is past voter turnout and the sample that the polls are currently using. From what I've seen the polls are using dems +5 to +10.

I'd love to McCain win this, but I don't see where the 270 are coming from.

Final Polls in Key States; It's Too Close to Call

These numbers have been out since this morning, but this is the first time I noticed:

The final round of Mason-Dixon polls has Obama enjoying small leads in the red states that would deliver him the presidency, but he's below 50 percent in each and there are enough white undecided voters to leave some too close to call.

Colorado: Obama 49, McCain 44, Undecided 4
Florida: Obama 47, McCain 45, Undecided 7
Nevada: Obama 47, McCain 43, Undecided 8
Pennsylvania: 47, McCain 43, Undecided 9
Virginia: Obama 47, McCain 44, Undecided 9
Ohio: McCain 47, Obama 45, Undecided 6
Missouri: McCain 47, Obama 46, Undecided 5
North Carolina: McCain 49, Obama 46, Undecided 5

As Brad Coker, who runs the Mason-Dixon poll, notes, the vast majority of the undecided voters in these states are whites.

I could live without the heavy emphasis on skin color.

Otherwise, things are looking pretty good. Several of those polls are within the margin of error, which means the candidates are at a statistical tie. Also, most people think undecideds are going to break strongly for McCain.

On exit polls: I suggest you reread Jack M.'s post from two weeks ago to prepare yourselves. Remember, the "enthusiasm gap" is going to seriously unbalance the exits. The media will be predisposed to call states for Obama earlier than would otherwise be the case.

Media basically trying to cover their collective asses to say "well, it was just too close to call" when Big Mac wins in the end.

Nice roll call polls, MJ. Makes me think of Lil' Jon's "roll call" song (which, incidentally, Big John McCain really should be using as his campaign theme):
