I am taking a few week break for gambling. I haven't been losing or winning much over the past month or so, but I felt like it would be a good time after the Dallas win (I had the ML) on Monday. Everytime I've done this in the past I've done better when I returned. More focused, plus it reminds me that I can stop gambling when I want. Does anyone else impose this on themsleves,(not after getting wiped) just to clear their head? VT

I can never take a break, I love the rush. The slow nights I bet ponies. If you take a break imo your not a real gambler.

Action is what it is all about, man do I feel lonely when nothing going on, basically nothing to do then.

We also have poker when board is empty.

Vaulted Treehouse your slipping, lets go and get betting, I think your losing your edge.

good move vaulted....taking a break makes you realize, IMO that there is more to life then the daily grind of watching line moves and whatnot...If your not a hobby gambler , like myself

then you come back fresh and ready to roll again..According to COACH im not a real gambler...well I can live with that

Vaulted one other thing

No one can stop gambling whenever they feel like it, you may stop for a day or week or month but you will be back.

Vaulter your a good kid by the way but in no way can you stop gambling for good, no poster can unless we get some sort of treatment

No BS either here

Dante, I agree with you.

JJ,
I wouldn't want to quit for life ever, but it's nice to know I have no problem going without for awhile. I've had a good year (decent plus column) but its a grind sometimes. It can be a bit overpowering sometimes with regard to constantly checking lines and watching, studying everything. I'm taking a break till Christmas, then I'll ramp up for the bowl season.

If I take a break for even one night, then look a the scores the next morning, I'm usually dissappointed when I see that I coulda cashed.

VT: I think that is good advice. But far easier said than done for me. If I could ONLY live in Nevada and quit all sports betting after basball season--I would be 100% better off. Yes I could still keep track of the horses, but wouldn't feels so out of touch. I would be in heaven just roaming the casinos and books in Las Vegas. Playing a horse or two now and then. But that's a "pipedream" for now anyway.

Good Luck to you sir!
