(CNN)Megan Everett, a Florida mom who's accused of kidnapping her daughter, is behind bars, a day after CNN's "The Hunt with John Walsh" told her story.

A person who saw the show Sunday night called in a tip when she recognized the mother and daughter from previous encounters with them, the Putnam County, Florida, Sheriff's Office said.

(An earlier version of this story contained information about the identity of the tipster, revealed in a law enforcement press release. CNN has removed that information because the tipline is anonymous, and the identifying information was revealed by mistake by law enforcement.)

That led deputies to a home, where they spotted the mother and daughter inside.

Putnam County Sheriff's deputies and special agents from the FBI arrested the 23-year-old mother. She's been booked into the Putnam County Jail on charges of kidnapping, interference with custody and concealing a minor contrary to court order. She'll be extradited to Broward County, Florida, where there's a warrant for her arrest, the FBI said.

Everett's daughter, 3-year-old Lilly Abigail Baumann, was recovered unharmed and is in protective custody, authorities said.

Everett's arrest comes more than a year after she left behind a note at the home of her boyfriend, telling him she'd fled with her daughter: "Dear C, If I let them take her and vaccinate her and brainwash her, I wouldn't be doing what's right. I cannot let a judge tell me how my daughter should be raised. We will miss you, but I had to leave. I know she will be safer and happier with my family and I. Love, Meg and Lilly."

The girl's father, Robert Baumann, told CNN he'd been searching for his daughter ever since, and was worried about what would happen if his daughter needed medical assistance.

"I think if something was to happen to my daughter, I don't think Megan's going to go and seek medical attention," he said. "I don't think she's going to do anything to help the child."

"I want my daughter to be found," he said. "I want my daughter to be safe."

CNN's Sean Redlitz, Rebecca Kutler and Shimon Prokupecz contributed to this report.

John Walsh was a very distraught father after his son was kidnapped & murdered & then became a very determined reporter on criminals with his shows.

Makes me wonder if everything doesnt happen for a reason......because if we think about it, if his son is never kidnapped & murdered, the show Americas Most Wanted never comes about.

He's done a very good service warning society about how to watch out for our kids, & to go after serious criminals.......although quite a few of the criminals wish he never started that show, but things happen for a reason.

Most people know John Walsh as the dedicated host of "America's Most Wanted" the man whose groundbreaking television program has helped take down nearly 1,000 dangerous fugitives in the past 20 years.

July 27, 2006 will go down in history as the day that changed how America protects its children from sexual predators. At a ceremony in the Rose Garden, President George W. Bush signed a new, tough-as-nails law to track and apprehend convicted sex offenders who disappear after their release from prison. The date wasn't chosen randomly. It was exactly 25 years earlier that John Walsh and his wife Revè suffered the most horrendous loss that any parents could endure: the abduction and murder of their beautiful six-year-old son, Adam. Since that day in 1981, John has dedicated himself to fighting on behalf of children and all crime victims. As a result, thousands of victims have found justice, and dozens of abducted children have been safely brought home. The new law signed by President Bush is also a result of John's fight. It's called "The Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act."

The fugitives of the U.S. may be heaving a sigh of relief at the news that the television show America's Most Wanted is no more. After 23 years of profiling the dregs of the criminal underworld — directly leading to 1,154 arrests by law-enforcement agencies — the show was canceled in May by Fox, and its final episode aired last month. The close working relationships that host John Walsh cultivated with the FBI and the U.S. Marshals Service over the years was an unprecedented collaboration between law enforcement and television. It was one of the very first reality shows that resulted in great TV and did a lot of good. Its cancellation leaves a hole both of those agencies will now need to fill. "This is a big hit for us. The show is invaluable," says Geoff Shank, assistant director of investigative operations for the U.S. Marshals Service. "We have arrested so many heinous people and we've saved so many lives because of America's Most Wanted." Kevin Perkins, assistant director of the FBI's criminal-investigations division, echoes the sentiment. "I personally hate to see it go," Perkins tells TIME. "We had 17 of our most wanted fugitives captured because of them and over 550 different cases solved as a result of tips."

http://murderpedia.org/male.M/m/murray-gerald-delane.htm

I went to elementary school and junior HS w/ this guy, Gerald Delane Murray. He and another guy I went to junior HS with, Stephen Taylor, brutally murdered a woman in 1990 (they were only 21 years old at the time). Murray escaped from the Duval County (Jacksonville) jail while he was awaiting trial. He was featured on the show America's Most Wanted and captured in the Las Vegas area 7 months later.

Circumstances of the Offense:

On 03/09/94, Gerald Delane Murray was convicted of first-degree murder, burglary with an assault, and sexual battery with great force. Murray was sentenced to death for the murder and life for the other two offenses.

At around midnight on 09/15/90, Murray and his friend, Steven Richard Taylor, were dropped off at a mobile home neighborhood by a friend (James “Bubba” Fisher) where the victim, 59-year-old Alice Vest, lived. A Ford Ranchero was reported stolen from a residence near the place where Murray and Taylor had been dropped off.

At around 4:30 a.m., a passing motorist noticed the vehicle parked in a driveway next door to the mobile home where Vest lived. Later that day, the Ford Ranchero was found abandoned behind a used car dealership, located only a few blocks away from where Taylor lived at the time.

That same morning of 09/15/90, residents of the mobile home neighborhood where Vest lived discovered Vest’s badly beaten body in the bedroom of her mobile home. According to the testimony of the medical examiner, Vest had been vaginally and anally raped, strangled, and stabbed approximately 20 times.
The medical examiner testified that most of the stab wounds were made with a knife, and the remaining stab wounds were made with a pair of scissors, both of which were found at the scene of the crime. The initial cause of death was ligature strangulation. Vest was alive while she was being stabbed, and she was strangled with an electrical cord after the stabbings.

The examiner pointed out multiple fractures found on Vest’s lower jaw, indicating that she received several blows to the head, which were done with a bottle, metal bar, and candlestick. These items were also found at the scene of the crime. Finally, the medical examiner testified that Vest’s breasts were bruised, as a result of “impacting, sucking, or squeezing” while she was alive.

In the medical examiner’s opinion, Vest was alive for approximately ten minutes from the first stabbing to the strangulation. The medical examiner was unsure whether Vest was conscious during all or any part of the attack. According to other trial testimony, the phone line to Vest’s mobile home had been cut, the mobile home had been burglarized, and various pieces of jewelry were missing.

During trial, the State admitted hair evidence recovered from Vest’s mobile home. Hair evidence was also sent to an FBI lab in Washington, D.C., for comparison with known hair samples from three persons: Murray, Taylor, and Vest. The hair expert from the FBI concluded that the hairs found on Vest’s nightgown and body were pubic hairs that had the same microscopic characteristics of Murray’s hairs. Taylor was excluded as a possible source of the hairs.

Additional evidence at the trial revealed that, approximately six months after his indictment for Vest (11/22/92), Murray escaped from Duval County Jail and was accompanied by a fellow inmate, Anthony Smith. Smith testified for the State that Murray confessed to the rape, robbery, and murder of Vest.

On 06/09/93, approximately seven months after his escape, Murray was captured in Las Vegas, Nevada. At the time of his arrest, he was carrying two false identification cards.
