How the 6 Bound By Humor did not come down is beyond me. It was some of the worst bumps I've ever seen. Someone with some serious connections to the stewards must have sent a text, let the 6 stand. If you saw it, it was gross!
7:03 PM, August 6, 2011 ι By ED FOUNTAINE SARATOGA SPRINGS – With $1,017,811 poured into Saturday's pick 6 pool chasing a two-day carryover of $215,398, a three-day carryover approaching $1 million was hanging in the balance as the stewards reviewed the replay of Saturday's 11th and final race after posting the inquiry sign into the stretch run.
The replay showed that 9-2 Bound by Humor, who finished first, came out just before the wire under Rajiv Maragh's left-hand whip, giving a hard-shove to 53-1 Ground Force, Jamie Rodriguez up, who was sandwiched at the wire when 9-1 Wee Freudian, who finished second, came in to bump him under Eddie Castro.
Bound by Humor was covered by nine tickets in the pick 6; Wee Freudian was covered by none, so there would have been another carryover if Bound by Humor was disqualified, or if there had been a double DQ, putting up Ground Force's number.
But the stewards let the result stand.
