How the 6 Bound By Humor did not come down is beyond me. It was some of the worst bumps I've ever seen. Someone with some serious connections to the stewards must have sent a text, let the 6 stand. If you saw it, it was gross!

7:03 PM, August 6, 2011 ι By ED FOUNTAINE SARATOGA SPRINGS – With $1,017,811 poured into Saturday's pick 6 pool chasing a two-day carryover of $215,398, a three-day carryover approaching $1 million was hanging in the balance as the stewards reviewed the replay of Saturday's 11th and final race after posting the inquiry sign into the stretch run.
The replay showed that 9-2 Bound by Humor, who finished first, came out just before the wire under Rajiv Maragh's left-hand whip, giving a hard-shove to 53-1 Ground Force, Jamie Rodriguez up, who was sandwiched at the wire when 9-1 Wee Freudian, who finished second, came in to bump him under Eddie Castro.
Bound by Humor was covered by nine tickets in the pick 6; Wee Freudian was covered by none, so there would have been another carryover if Bound by Humor was disqualified, or if there had been a double DQ, putting up Ground Force's number.
But the stewards let the result stand.

I saw that race on the TV.

What you are saying happened was a reaction to a crowding that took place a few yards before when the 6 was being push guided towards the rail by the horse to his right.... result in left handed whip action by R M.

Lately, if you notice, the stewards will review BUT very rarely DQ a horse unless a jockey falls off, or the horse interfered with falls down. In other words.. "No blood, no foul"..

If that is the case, why have stewards.......( ????????????)

i agree it was a bad call....but fix?......if anything the NYRA employees would have taken him down to garner a massive pick six pool the next day...more volume=more take for the track

Agreed - bad call but it makes no sense they purposely left him up. Taking him down would have garnered a huge carryover that would have boosted business for them. I personally only play pick 6's when the carryovers reach that level they would have gotten too.

The stewards do whats in the best interest for themselves, not their employer. For sure that horse should've been taken down, someone up there had an interest in that horse winning.

Bad news and good news re that very race.

I was holding a $24.00 win ticket cold on the #12. When I saw the headon I was sure the #6 was coming down and I was going up with the #13 being placed second. Not to be.

But my friend used my #12 with his #6 to complete his cold $20.00 exacta. I left pissed so I never did see what that exacta paid but I'm sure my friend walked out after me with a big smile. I'm sure he collected a big one. Good for him.
