Absolutely a waste, but I do not personally believe that it is about drugs anymore anyway, if it ever was. Drug-related laws have been used in cases which have nothing whatsoever to do with drugs, especially in enforcement of tax code, firearm laws, and on the municipal level eminent domain laws (by condemning "known drug houses" so that shiny new blocks can be built and raise the property taxes somewhat.)

This is the second post of yours I've seen this evening and can't help myself from asking have you been drinking tonight?
As far as the war on drugs, it would best be described as...
a complete and utter waste of time and resources that has only served to drive up the price of drugs making it a very lucrative business to sell them while simultaneously over populating U.S. prisons.

As far as the war on drugs, it would best be described as...
a complete and utter waste of time and resources that has only served to drive up the price of drugs making it a very lucrative business to sell them while simultaneously over populating U.S. prisons.
The War on Drugs is a success in one regard -- it has been a great boon to businesses that cater to political whim, and to politicians that support it.

drugs are an instrumental part of most, if not all, governents around the world, esp. the so called "democratic ones". Their illegality serves so many purposes i won't even start mentioning them. Imo, all psychotropic substances should be legalised, i am not a user, although in my younger days i enjoyed the occasional spliff. Of course they never will be legalised, is too much of a lever of power for any ruling establishment to let go of.
btw, like i said in another post, something close to 90% of the world's heroin comes from Afghanistan, well, now that the good and fair american army is there, i suppose we're almost done with what is arguably, THE foremost destructive and even lethal drug. Or are we?

There has to be some attempt at control of the highly addictive meth. The addiction becomes so bad that one loses total concept of what is real and what is important. marijuana, alcohol, nerve pills, pain killers do not result closely to the devistation of meth. Been there, seen it, done it, and did not like what I witnessed. I do not agree with all policies, but there is a need for some attempt at ridding the streets of the users who will kill for their next fix.

Or make it easily available to them (which would be much cheaper than the war on drugs) then there's no reason for them to kill to get a fix, and if they want to kill themselves with the stuff, hey that's their business.
