Suddenly Oklahoma's wins over Missouri (62-21) and Oklahoma State (61-41) don't look as impressive as they were made out to be.

Missouri struggled against Northwestern, winning in overtime. Oklahoma State lost by double digits to Oregon, a team that has a very mediocre defense, rated #60 in the country.

If Oklahoma State put up 31 points on Oregon and 41 on Oklahoma, what does that say?

It says the following:
1. The rumors are true: Oklahoma's defense is subpar.
2. The Big 12 (so far, at least) is not what others have cracked it up to be.

What does this mean for the national championship? Well, you can make your own conclusions.

The SEC's bowl season is just now underway. Vanderbilt is beating Boston College 13-7 in the fourth quarter, and LSU plays later tonight.

We'll return to this thread in about a week and see how the bowl records of the Big 12 and the SEC match up. I am curious to see this match up myself.

Yup totally agree, besides OK game was on the road, and they had a special team TD, always a tough place to play, Oregon is as solid a team as they come, shit I bet they would give Florida a hard time, ANY TEAM including Florida would have a hard time stopping their explosive offense.

Yes but the point I was making is based on Oregon's defense, not their offense. Oklahoma State couldn't take advantage of Oregon's well below-average defense. Yet they put up 41 on Oklahoma.

I agree. OU's gonna get the SHIT kicked outta them. I've tried telling anyone that will listen that OU's defense sucks balls.

You do that, except they will be 2-0 after tonight. With 2 wins being from dogs.

I'm very surprised that the Clemson/Nebraska line keeps moving down. ACC #2 vs. Big 12 #7 should be more than -1.5.

Make that 3 wins and one loss.

Missouri (Win)
Kansas (Win)
Nebraska (Win)
OSU (Loss) (a 4th place Big 12 South team vs the number 2 team in the Pac-10)

Here's the latest:

The Big 12 is 3-2 in bowl games

Kansas beat Minnesota 42-21
#13 OSU lost to #15 Oregon 41-31
#8 Texas Tech lost to #20 Mississippi 47-34
#25 Mizzou beat #22 Northwestern 30-23 in OT
Nebraska beat Clemson 26-21

Again, teams in the Big 12 beat Minnesota, Northwestern, and Clemson. IMO the only quality win is against Northwestern.

Now let's look at the SEC, which is 5-1 in bowl games

#16 Georgia beat #19 Michigan St. 24-12
South Carolina lost to Iowa 31-10
LSU beat #14 Georgia Tech 38-3
Vanderbilt beat Boston College16-14
#20 Mississippi beat #8 Texas Tech 47-34
Kentucky beat East Carolina 25-19

SEC has had a lot of quality wins: Beating #19 Michigan State, #14 Georgia Tech, #8 Texas Tech, as well as East Carolina and Boston College, which are decent teams. The SEC's only loss came against Iowa, who has one of the hottest running backs in the nation. Which team lost to Iowa? One of the SEC's worst teams, South Carolina.

The SEC is 1-0 against the Big 12 in head-to-head match ups (Ole Miss-Texas Tech) with one head-to-head game still remaining: Florida vs. Oklahoma.

Conclusion: The SEC, so far, remains the most dominant conference in college football.

The SEC has a lot of teams. The efforts of one team should not sum up the conference.

And have you forgotten that a football game has four quarters?

That doesn't take away from the fact that Florida is going to win the national championship :>Grin>

Anyway, Alabama has some key players out of this game.
