I like to do this for all major sports...posted all over various sites..

1. Early January - Giants to win the SB - Win
2. Late November - Kansas to win the NC - Win
3. Mid April - Lakers to win the NC - Loss
4. Mid April - Pens to win the Stanley Cup - Loss
5. Mid April - Cubs to win the WS - Pending
6. Late May - Germany to win the EC08 - Loss

2-3 record with one pending that looks not too bad right now. All the losses were runners up so I was pretty damn close

You kind of always wanna pick a team that no one is really looking at to win it all, but if you check out the last events ive picked more or less favorites or not complete suprises and have either won, or been the runner up. Last few years the national champions were

2007 - LSU - started the season #2
2006 - Florida - started the season #6
2005 - Texas - started the season #2
2004 - USC - started the season #1

So every team in the last few years has been pretty highly ranked. LSU in 2003 startd out the lowest ranked at #14.
So when I took a look at this I wanted to pick a team that was pretty highly ranked to start the season since that seems to be the trend. Here are the teams I looked at....

1. ohio state (#3)
2. oklahoma (#4)
3. florida (#5)
4. tennessee (#18)

Ohio State +550
- I figured they could get in again for the third consecutive year because the Big 12 has seemingly stayed the same, Michigan might worse then they were last year with a team in transition and a QB that has never started a game in college, but they have two possible losses @ USC, which i think they will win actually, and @ Wisconsin, which is the game i think they loss. This a series where home feild adavantage is huge.

Florida +700 - This team should be good this year and a lot of the reasons point to Tebow. But Tebow was on this team last year, and they lost Ingram earlier this month. They still went 9-3 last season and lost their bowl game with all that talent. After looking at it they have a few potential losses, georgia and tennessee are the big ones.

Tennessee +3300
- Im pretty high on this team for whatever reason , im not a huge fan of Fulmer though. 2 or 3 potential losses, most likely they lose to Georgia.

Oklahoma +700 - This is my team at the end of the day, im buying into what there selling and I think their schedule damn near garuntee's they get into the Big 12 championship. After that i think they get right into the national championship, the question for me is who they play and will they finally win a bowl game. Sam Bradford had a great season last year and this guy has a ton of potential, maybe a one day heisman. The schedule sets up perfectly. All the hard games are home and there arent that many home games. The game against Texas might of course be a problem, but they have a ton of question marks around them. The reason of their road games are Baylor, KSU, Okie St, Washington and Texas A and M. Not the toughest road games to say the least. TCU might not be a walk in the park but they win. Texas Tech will be a huge game, but the fact that its in Norman puts me over the top.

Call me crazy, call me nuts, Oklahoma gets to the national championship and hopefully wins it. I could see them playing Ohio State, but like I said, not sure.

Oklahoma +700 to bet 1 unit

I took Mizzou 20-1 ... even if they lose in Austin they'll still win the Big 12 North and go to the title game vs Texas or Oklahoma so felt it was great value for a team that should be 11-1 entering title game.

so, expect them to end up 7-5 this year and play Iowa in the Alamo Bowl :)

Florida is a nice value. I'm calling for LSU to be the upset SEC team even though they look weaker this year. That team is stacked.

Bradford has Cherokee Nation.

With the 1st pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, Bradford FTW

I agree that LSU is loaded....but, I can't get a good feel since they literally have no QB. The two guys they have competing are not SEC-type talent. They have a nice true freshman but he's a distant 3rd string. It'll be interesting to see how LSU responds.

Good write up here. I rarely do futures bets. The last one I had was Va Tech 3 years ago when they blew the first ACC Championship game to FSU. What a f'ing joke!

Not unless Bradford changes his name to Matthew Stafford because he is pretty much a lock to be drafted first next year.

I like the play. OU definitely has value because I don't see any teams really being close to them in the Big 12. They should be able to beat every conference opponent by at least a TD. I personally think that the USC/OSU winner will be the NC, but OU at 7/1 has a lot of value.

I hit Georgia +1100 about a month ago. Small play; their schedule is brutal and may not even get to the game, however I think they are the best team in the nation.

In all honesty I never even considered them, its not even the schedule to me at this point, its the hype, the problems, and the player dismissals thats gonna fuck them over.

I hear ya dude. I'm typically one of those guys who goes against the public but for some reason I see something in this team. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
