I disagree, not sure if you're talking NBA, college or both. Do you consider scheduling? Some NBA teams are better than others when they must play back to back nights. Quick example, Sacramento started a six game road trip Jan 22 at Cleveland. All of their starters played between 34 and 45 minutes in a 6 point win(failed to cover as they were 9 point favs). They play Memphis the next night who had covered 5 of their last 6 games and had the night off while the Kings were in Cleveland. I'm interested in Memphis at first glance, then it's homework time to support my gut feeling.
1. Memphis has revenge(bigger factor in college in my opinion) from a 20 point loss at Sacramento on Nov.15th.
2. What has Sacramento done on previous back to nights? Jan 7- Lost at Seattle 104-93 as a 2 point fave, Dec 26- Lost at Golden St 98-91 as a four point fave. The line for tonight's game was even and Memphis closed as a one point fave. Granted two games isn't a significant sample, but it's something to consider.
3. I doubt in the 2nd game of a six trip with the Texas triangle(Dall, Hou, SA) approaching the Kings starters will play huge minutes again.
4. Memphis was 14-7 ATS at home.
It turns out nobody plays over 30 minutes for Sacramento, they trail by 21 after 3 quarters and lose by 14.
It always isn't that easy, but with a little research and record keeping you can spot plays like this and grind out a profit over the course of a season. Good luck.
