heh...I was just thinking about the DJIA today while out working as I was musing about the TOTALRECALL wager after the election where he scored $20 from several of us with his prediction Dow would drop below 6000 before going above 8000.

And NO, I don't give credit to Obama or much of anyone else in Washington DC, but I was very, very pleased to receive our second quarter 401K summary today and we had a 13.3% rate of return for the second quarter of 2009. I'm pretty sure that's the best quarter we've had since we set this account up a bit over four years ago.

btw, i agree with gtc...thank you barack for the increase in the dow. your incredible understanding of economics coupled with your entrepreneurial spirit have ignited a surge like we have never seen! you've started countless successful companies which has obviously motivated people to follow suit and start small business of their own, which of course account for 70% of our nation's jobs (note sarcasm)

GTC's 401k just bounced back to $ 288
of course, the economy is still in retraction, but the market is rebounding because
1) company's are making more money despite decreasing sales because they are cutting costs, liking laying people off
2) companys' earnings reports are exceeding very low expectations
there will be no recovery until we the people start spending money
of course, anyone who thinks the POTUS controls such things really has no chance of understanding any of this.
