My friend just called and said there was 5 inches of water on the field. He said he saw some pictures of it. Did anyone else see this?

I'm not sure who this helps??? I'm not sure I even care, lol.

LUBBOCK - While the eastern part of the state braces for Hurricane Ike, here out west, Tropical Depression Lowell leveled 7.5 inches of rain in eight hours, shutting down Texas Tech today. Reports are that local officials plan to declare a state of emergency.

But, in a brief chat with the Tech sports information staff, everything is still set for SMU to face Tech 6 p.m. Saturday at Jones AT&T Stadium.

Speaking of the stadium, a reader sent us some pictures of the standing water on the field and in the stands, jokingly referring to the facility as the "Jones AT&T Aquatic Center."

The Tech staff said a sump pump problem contributed to the flooding, but that all would be well by game time.

We'll keep you posted if something changes.
