Okay for those of you who did not know , the stage has been set for the biggest high school football ever to played. Texas Southlake Carroll / Florida Miami Northwestern. This is an intrastate game that involves 2 highly competitive teams that will meet for th efirst time ever in dallas Texas on September 15,2007. 5 dimes is currently offering a line of SLC-7. The only reason for my write up on this game is because I have lots of knowledge on SLC and have been following them for over 1/2 my life. I feel that they desrve this write up and I feel you all deserve the opportunity to make easy money . Most of this write up is from my heart. I did borrow a few lines from other sources but only where my thoughts were the same or they were simple facts.the last of this post ("afew important key factors " ) are words from my heart and little supporting weight in my selection for this game.
In their 44-season history, Southlake Carroll's Football program has produced an all-time record of 398-126-8. Carroll has been particularly impressive in the last 20 seasons, winning seven state titles in eight championship game appearances. Carroll's record the last 20 seasons is 244-39-1, including a state-record 72-game regular-season winning streak from 1986 to 1993. In 2000 former Texas quarterback Todd Dodge replaced Tom Rapp, who followed the retiring Ledbetter in 1996. In seven seasons, Dodge guided the Dragons to a 98-11 record (including a 79-1 record and four state championships since moving up to Class AAAAA),
Carroll has won its third consecutive 5A state title in 2006, making it only the second school to "three-peat" in the 5A class. (In the national televised title game, they beat Westlake High School of Austin, Texas, 43-29 for their 48th consecutive win. With eight starters back on offense, including running back Tré Newton (2,010 rushing yards, 20 TDs) and AP's 2006 5A state offensive player of the year Riley Dodge (4,184 passing yards, 54 TDs; 1,119 rushing yards, 13 TDs) at quarterback, Carroll aims for another 5A state title in 2007. Both Newton and Dodge accepted a scholarship offer by the University of Texas on February 25, 2007.
Let me pose this question. Has Southlake rebuilt their defense time after time over the last five years? The answer is a resounding yes. Having to replace nine starters on either side of the ball is a real challenge, but this is where SLC's feeder programs pay their dividends. Most starters at Carroll don't start until they're a senior unless they're exceptionally talented standouts at the JV level. Two areas SLC will heavily outweigh MNW is depth (backups that can play just as good as the starters) and the consistency of coaching at the sub-levels. Sub-level excellence, combined with utilizing every minute in the offseason (excellent time management) to groom the underclassmen for the upcoming season has allowed Carroll to fill the voids they have year after year afte year after 20 years.
They teach techniques and schemes to the kids starting in 4th and 5th grade, which by the way, for the most part ...these are the same group af kids that play together as a team from 4th grade to they're senior year in high school. By the time these kids reach the 11th and 12th grade, the system has become 2nd nature and theyre soul purpose for living their life as a youth. Some what like a kamikaze piolt or a Japaneese samuraii. Why do you think Carroll continues to produce first class quarterbacks year after year, some of which don't even start until they're a senior? It's because of a world class system that's been in place there for over 20 years. Their performance on the field is a reflection of their values off the field. The Class of 2008 is no exception. Carroll will have nothing but respect for MNW, but you can bet Carroll will not be outworked by any team in the offseason. I can give you first hand experience in th elast 24 hours that the SOUTHLAKE CARROLL DRAGONS are focused on nothing but this game. A loss is absolutly unacceptable to the team ...to the school ...to the community. HA!! Gauranteed ..if players dont perform.....there will be a few Daddys looking for a new job.
I think MNW is a real threat, but they have never, let me repeat that, NEVER played an opponent with an athletic system as organized or disciplined as Carroll. There MIGHT be five public schools in the nation that are comparable to Carroll in overall emphasis on excellence in every phase of education from academics to athletics. If anyone thinks MNW will simply out-muscle, outrun, or out-athlete SLC, they will be in for a real shock on Sept. 15th. All other teams and coaches that had that philosophy are 0-79 against Carroll over the past five years.
The real question is: How will they play as a team against Carroll? An even bigger question is: How will they play as a team when they get down by one or two scores? Will the wheels fall off or can this team stay mentally focused under adverse conditions? Carroll has proven they can (eg. Lufkin, Trinity, SV) in the playoff pressure-cooker type games. Performing under adverse conditions that they're not familiar with may be the real challenge (x-factor) for MNW in this game.
Not trying to downplay Florida football competition level, but who outside of Florida has heard of any of the teams from their 2006 schedule? Carroll had to defeat the defending 5A champion Trinity, who was undefeated at the time they played. Did MNW face a likewise opponent in their playoff run? Many of the teams Carroll plays in the playoffs are regularly listed as regionally or nationally ranked teams. Can the same be said for MNW?
It looks like we will be able to finally put to rest the debate over who plays the best high school football in the country.. The SLC vs Northwestern game will be the most highly anticipated high school football game possibly ever.. People across the country will get the chance to see what A disciplined Texas juggernaut can do when you play as a team.. I hope that North comes ready to play cause I guarantee SLC will! I have heard all the talk about North having some of the top players in the country on their team.. That's real nice.. Do they play mistake free football, because if they don't they have no real chance against SLC.. Who by the way have some high school all Americans on their team as well! SLC has beaten many teams with more team speed than they had.. Should be a great atmosphere I have heard that there could be as many as 50,000 to see this game ,plus national tv.. Hope North can deal with all that hype and not crack ..SLC has been through it before...
The game will take place Saturday, Sept. 15, at SMU's Ford Stadium. Carroll is a three-time Texas 5A state champion. Northwestern is the defending Florida 6A state champion.

a few important key facts:
Besides appearing occasionally on national TV, the Dragons enter the 2007 season on a 48-game winning streak, one shy of tying the big school mark set by Abilene from 1954-57. 1 shy of tying a 50 year old record!!!!! and 2 shy setting the new record!!!! HELLO!!!!!!!
Carroll's area-round playoff game against Trinity last year drew an announced crowd of 46,339 to Texas Stadium, the second-largest crowd to ever witness a high school football game there.
I wonder what the weather is like in Florida during the summer??? I was born and raised here in Dallas / Fort worth. I promise you that it is a HOT MOTHER ****** HERE !!!!! unless you live here for 10 years ...you have no idea!!!!! by 10 a.m its freaking miserable ...even on september 15th. by 3 p.m its unbearable to be outside in the sun for too long. At 7 at night ....its still hott as hell!!!!!! I live 2 blocks from SMU stadium where this game will be played and I attend most SLC H.S. football games. I know that when these kids are going thru 2 -a-days come this August....that the heat will not even be a factor for the Dragons. In my little mind ....I can not possibly see a group of young men from "Topical" Miami ....come here and beat "MY DRAGONS" on a hot summer night ...basically in my back yard. I had 4 brothers who played on the SLC football team over the past 20 years. This team is a machine. A well lubricated scoring machine!!!! Kind of like my 350Z.
This game is about lots of money to the city of South Lake. Its about more than a football game. There is absolutely "NO WAY" that SLC doesnt cover the 7 point spread. TOO BAD there is a maximum wager for the line as it is right now. Southlake is 1 of the wealthiest areas in the Nation. Lots of money involved in this program and this game. SLC is money all season long. This has been a secret here in DFW for a long time and now the books have opened the doors to them world wide. Ive been involved with the local books around here on this team for a long time. Ill talk more after september 15th on " MY DRAGONS". good luck and I hope yall enjoy my post!!!! IM SOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
