Kim Clijsters is back on the Tour after taking a couple of years off to get herself healthy. Now that she's back in business, she's been sending some tremors through the Women's bracket. On Monday, she had a very easy time of things against Viktoriya Kutusova, who was spanked 6-1, 6-1. Not that many sports betting system picks had Kutusova winning, but it would have been nice for her to get an interview after the match.
Victoria Azarenka defeats Alexandra Dulgheru 6-1, 6-1
The eight-seeded Belarussian, Victoria Azarenka, put a beat down on Romanian Alexandra Dulgheru in the first round of the 2009 US Open with an effortless 6-1, 6-1 win. Dulgheru was clearly in over her head and she couldn't handle the 20-year-old up-and-comer. Azarenka has been impressive on the women's tour this year and although she's not among many sports picks to win the big fish at Flushing Meadows, she's a dark horse to go deep.
Robin Soderling defeats Albert Montanes 6-1, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4
The No. 12 seed on the men's side, Robin Soderling, had no problems in the first round of the US Open. He quickly disposed of Albert Montanes in four sets. Soderling lost his focus in the third set a little bit, which allowed Montanes to steal a set, but Soderling woke up in the fourth and moved on to the next round.
