guys.....this coming from a diehard vol fan. i just dont have any faith in clausen. it is similar to the bashers that like to bash berlin and rix. the way that clemson ended the season to go along with the way that maryland kicked the shit out of my vols last year i would have to say that i am leaning towards taking the points. that being said i know that clemson is no maryland. my hat goes off to friedgen and the boys in terrapin land they have material.

mightyvol, hows the teams motivation. I am thinking that they are not to excited to be in this bowl. Will it matter does Coach Fullmer get his team prepared for the bowls. I mean, they are ranked #6 in the country. They beat Miami and their #2 Def. I am thinking that they should be able to just run over the Tigers. and the number is low. But just doesnt make sense.

Thanks Rx, I also have them as my top bowl play this year. Just to suspicious why the line is not moving at all. I still remember when they had a pretty good team with the QB who played right before Payton took over. and they got spanked by Penn St. a big underdog to them. But that is against JoePa and hes a dangerous dog..
thanks guys. vol, read the article -- and it almost sounds as though a possible recipe for disaster. didn't realize this is so prevalent in the back of their minds. if the game were not to go right at the beginning confidence could be gone and/or they could be over-hyped for the game. just initial thoughts, will work on it tonite.

I am a bit puzzled as to how Clemson makes it to this game rather than a team like Maryland but hey, that´s not my job to figure that out. Clemson´s claim to fame is a win over Florida St. at home. Prior to that win, Tommy Bowden´s job was in jeopardy. Clemson closed out the year strong with three straight wins but those last two wins came against some stiffs. Clemson is up against a better team in this matchup. The biggest problem for me here is Clemson´s history of being unprepared for bowl games. We saw this with West Virginia to my peril. Teams that routinely fail to prepare usually continue that trend until they come up with a super team. Clemson is 1-3 SU in their four bowl games under Bowden with all three losses being by double digits including a 40 point loss to Texas Tech a year ago. Going beyond that, Clemson is 1-7 SU in their last eight bowl games. I don´t see Clemson being prepared to do battle in this game. They were an up and down team all year long and they strike me as being a little too young to be on a stage this big.
Tennessee came to this bowl game a year ago and they weren´t prepared. They proceeded to go out on the field and get themselves embarrassed by the Maryland Terapins 30-3. That loss helped this team focus for this contest. I am sure they were more conscious about what they did on the town in Atlanta this week and were a lot more focused on the game plan. Tennessee closed out the year strong with six straight wins including a big road win over Miami. They are looking to finish their season up ranked very high in the polls and to do that they have to win here. They will use last year´s embarrassment as motivation and will get the job done. Tennessee found a reliable ground game down the stretch and it improved Casey Clausen´s effectiveness. Look for Tennesse to work the run and pass balance to perfection and have their way with the Tigers.
