Interesting bit of beer night trivia from FoxSports ... the ten worst clubs ever:

1. 1916 Philadelphia Athletics (36-117)
2. 1935 Boston Braves (38-115)
3. 1962 New York Mets (40-120)
4. 1904 Washington Senators (38-113)
5. 1919 Philadelphia Athletics (36-104)
6. 2003 Detroit Tigers (43-119)
7. 1939 St. Louis Browns (43-111)
8. 2004 Arizona Diamondbacks (51-111)
9. 1909 Washington Senators (42-110)
10. 1952 Pittsburgh Pirates (42-112)

Whole story here.

may not be one of the worst clubs ever but the 72 Phillies were 59-97 with steve Carlton starting 41 games going 27-10 with an ERA under two. The Phillies lost many games for Lefty(30 complete games) in the last inning or extras. The leading RBI man was Luzinski with 68 and 18 HRs. team BA was .236

I listened to a high pct of their games as a teen and the wins were non-existent when Carlton was not pitching.
