Ace, I am not disagreeing with you in the least. I don't mean to throw you closet etymologists off track, but I was raised and continue to live in the South.

I'm guessing now that nobody shakes the fizz out of their pop? We also call pop "coke" as a general term, too. tulsa

Where I come from we call pop "tonic". I never shake the fizz out though.

After a bit of the fizz is off, putting some salted peanuts into a GLASS bottle of pepsi is really great! I only do that with pepsi and only with their old style glass bottles and it's really good!!!
