Ok guys time to jinx myself and post my plays from week one.
All plays are 1-10 units. My picks are a little different than some others who post here. I will include the juice I get from my book into my bankroll and it will be accurate with my actual bankroll.
Syracuse @ Northwestern
Northwestern returns 7 on offense and 8 on defense. Including the big ten passing leader from last year CJ Bacher. Northwestern throws up about 300 yards passing. This year they have promised the no huddle attack will be back which means more plays and bad news for Syracuse. Northwestern also brings back 8 defensive starters and while this unit wont be able to stop the big boys in conference Syracuse is dreadfully awful. Syracuse gave up 34.8 points a game last year and this year they bring in co-defensive coordinators?? I don't think this has ever worked at any school. They also bring in a new offensive Coordinator Mitch Browning most notably rcognized from his years at Minnesota. Everywhere he has been has been run first teams. They lose 2 starters on the OL and 2 guys with significant time. I don't expect the Syracus team to come in and run all over Northwestern. Look for Northwestern to throw and throw often. I liked this game all week and got it in last night before the line moved.
Northwestern -11.5 5 units to win 4.76 units
Bowling Green @ Pittsburgh
I really like Bowling Green in this spot. Pittsburgh is better than they were last year but I like Bowling Green in this spot. It's not so much what Pitt dosn't have as what Bowling Green does have. This is the best team in the MAC and the bring back 17 starters from last year including 9 on a defense that allowed only 217ypg on avg last year. Sheehan will do enough to keep Bowling Green close and maybe even a shot to win. I don't know much about the Bowling Green coach but I give him the advantage over a terrible Dave Wannstedt.
Bowling Green +13 5 units to win 4.76 units
Virginia Tech @ East Carolina
I like what East Carolina has this year and I see them as an 8 or 9 win team. Problem is one of those wins is not coming today. Virginia Teach is arguably th best team in the ACC again. They have been to 3 of the 4 ACC championship games. I know ECU was without their QB last year on the road and only lost 17-7. However Virginia Tech returns Sean Glennon and while not lighting the world on fire he was a 60 percent passer and only threw 5 picks with 1800 yards. Virginia Tech will win the game and in my opinion TO's will play a big part. Virginia Tech does have to fill big holes on the defensive side of the ball but look for VT to do something on special teams to get the cover.
Virginia Tech -9.5 5 units to win 4.76
USC @ Virginia
This game has me remembering the 2006 Arkansas USC game. That game ended 50-14. I have a feeling something similar will happen. USC lost a few guys but the ones stepping in are twice as good as Virginia's starters. Virginia is only returning 11 total as it is from a team that was 9-4 with a bunch of close losses. Their QB Lalich only has 61 career passes in college and none of those came against the caliber defense he will see today. Charlottesville is not like a death valley or a blacksburg so that won't have any effect and USC rolls today.
USC -19 5 units to win 4.67 units
YTD 0-0-0 0 units.
