Frogs O' War has just received confirmation that TCU's starting quarterback Trevone Boykin will be out 4-6 weeks after having surgery to repair a wrist injury earlier today.

Frogs O' War has learned that TCU starting quarterback Trevone Boykin underwent surgery on Monday evening to repair his left wrist, and is expected to be out 4-6 weeks.
Sources confirmed to Frogs O' War writer tylervr11 earlier today that Boykin underwent surgery to repair an injury to his left wrist.

Matt Joeckel will likely start in Boykin's place.
It's unclear exactly when Boykin suffered the injury, but it seems to have happened near the end of the game this past Saturday against Baylor. Boykin completed a season-low 44% of his passes against Baylor, but still helped lead TCU's offense to 51 points and 485 total yards in the loss. In the 4th quarter, Boykin completed only 3-of-10 passes for 21 yards, and his accuracy looked to be off.
On the season, Boykin had completed 57.7% of his passes for 1,463 yards and 11 touchdowns to just two interceptions. He had also rushed for 305 yards and three touchdowns. His passing totals had already eclipsed his stats from 2013, when he found himself splitting time with Casey Pachall.
The junior from Dallas had beaten out senior transfer Matt Joeckel during August camp for the starting job.
Falling into that 4-6 week timeline are games against Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, at West Virginia, Kansas State and at Kansas.
TCU Sports Information Director Mark Cohen was not immediately available for comment.

I had already bought up to 10.
But I'm surprised the line is still up.
I expect it to drop to 7 minimum and I'm buying some back for sure.
Something's not right.
No one even knows who the back up is.

Where did you see the line still up? The line went off in all of my books the minute that news came out. Ex Texas A&M player Joeckel is the backup. Trouble is Boykin was about 80% of their offense including leading rusher. So he's definitely worth some points on the line.

It said on their website according to David Ubben that Boykin practiced today. Not sure what that means exactly. They might have jumped the gun...

TCU coach Gary Patterson refuted a report that quarterback Trevone Boykin would miss 4-6 weeks after undergoing wrist surgery.

A TCU spokesman said Boykin was practicing on Tuesday and Patterson told FOX Sports Southwest that there was no truth to an internet report of Boykin's injury that surfaced on Tuesday afternoon.

Boykin has been one of college football's most improved players this season. He'd completed 120-of-208 passes (57.7 percent) for 1,463 yards, 11 touchdowns and just two interceptions. His 292 yards per game were fourth-most in the Big 12.

His backup is Matt Joeckel, who transferred to TCU from Texas A&M this summer after backing up Johnny Manziel in 2012 and 2013.

...............Patterson could be trying to get Okie State to prepare for both??????? Who knows.

In all fairness sb nation is overall much better than br. Some of the indidividual blogs are bad but then there are blogs on sb nation which have exellent coverage and journalism.

My guess is it's wrapped, it's going to depend on how much pain he can tolerate. They'll shoot it up locally and see if he can go. The probably have one of those flexible soft casts on it to allow him some flexibility at the wrist but not much more.

There are minor procedures that fall under the general category of surgeries. Left wrist should not be a problem for a right handed thrower. I have been shot up before for a foot and a wrist on separate occasions and I made it ok both times. I have to give Boykin credit for how hard he is to bring down. Pretty impressive.
