I was looking around at the cost for rental cars and see they are not cheap for the RX Bash weekend. So I am going to take a taxi from the airport to the Golden Nugget and wanted to know what the fare might be and what other advice you might want to share about taxi rides as this will be the first time in a taxi for me.Thanks in advance! gravy check out hotwire.com

they have some great deals on cars.

there are shuttles at airport that take hotel guests to various hotels.

much cheaper than using a cab and during rush hour cab fares can get pricey when sitting in traffic.

I've used Grey Line Shuttle; probably takes half-hour longer than taxi, but only costs $5 to $10 depending on where purchased; and I enjoy the view while travelling.

You can bid for a car on priceline.com. I would bid about $25 for a full size car.

Got a car for 4 days to get to various Hotels and Casinos that I will be going to and it is just too expensive to take a cab back and forth each way. Staying at the M the last couple of days of my trip so no car is needed there since they have a free shuttle to and from the airport and the Fashion show mall.

Cost me about $111.00 with taxes(taxes and surcharges are equal to about 33% of the total cost) for an economy car using entertainment books ID corp rate and coupon for a free day with a 4 day car rental.

What I do is give the lot attendant a $10 bill (not the counter person) and they usually will let me pick up to a full size at no extra charge.

America.............. What a country!

agree shuttle is cheapest and best without rental car. always rent a car as first thing I do is go to big liquor store south of strip (about 2 miles from rental car center, take left on las vegas blvd) and stock up on beer and liquor, bloody mary mix, etc.

have found good deals at rentalcars.com and google search for las vegas forums; some of them give rental codes out in posts which can save you tons.

good luck

Rental car prices have shot up the last couple of weeks for whatever reason. I booked mine a couple of months ago and it's about 50% more now.

If anyone is arriving the same time as me, I can give you a ride. I arrive Friday 12:40pm.

I would avoid the shuttle and try your luck with sharing a cab with someone who is going downtown.

Make sure the taxi driver does NOT take you through the tunnel! This is a longer way and racks up extra charges on the meter.
