I am a firm believe in that a sound body and a sound mind go together. As most of you know, I haven't had a drink in 23 days and have begun getting my body back in the shape it once was. With proper diet, exercise, and rest, I will be a lean, mean machine. I suspect that this positive lifestyle change will have a positive effect on both my sports wagering and poker playing. Maintaining discipline is a degree of success that translates well in all matters of life.
Today, I made it back to the gym and did 9 miles on the bike. Considering where I was in the past, it is not much, but it is a start.

I challenge all of you posters to make similar positive changes in your lifestyle and hope we can share success stories in our physical, mental, and financial areas of our lives.

being that big is a pain in the ass. your grocery bill must be something to brag about.

how can you go wrong with slim and cut 200 max. the hoes love that brad pitt fight club look. make no mistake.

weighing less muscle or not is better for your cardio vascular as well. pumping lots of blood through more mass is just pumping blood through more mass fat or muscle.

I got illmatic philosiphy all day. bring it.

Dante,
3 X 45 on each side with a 45 lb Olympic bar would be 315.

Keep up the good work, you will reach your goal SSI.

sorry guys, im 37 now and married for 14yrs, not chasing any ho's.... i would love to weigh 202 again, that was my weight when i was in my prime... 217 is a good start, i use that weight because thats as heavy as i can be without being too fat.. ill go for 217 over the winter and 202 for next summer..

yeah i can still handle 250 for 10 reps, --- i still enjoy the strength aspect of this,, i like a little mass-- as i now have a teenage daughter (13) and i want the little boys to know that i can whip that candy butt for them..

guys, heads up on the NO-Fat Cottage cheese..
one large tub contains 480 calories, 72 grams of protein and 0grams of fat,, all for under $3. i challenge someone to compare something to this..

dante, i am very well aware of the carb factor but i cant do the low carb diets and train, it zaps me of my strength. i still enjoy being somewhat of an animal in the weight room.. other than being about 20 lbs heavier than i want to be, i dont feel that ive slowed down any... ive got a friend who is 37 and is in unbelievable shape, he says he is still getting better..... ronnie coleman current mr. O is 40 now..

Dante, you must stay away from the bad carbs but eat the good ones.. cut out the junk, i have a hard time doing that and owning a convenience store.... also cutting carbs in the evening is the way too go..

You're a class act Dobbie. I have the book, 8 weeks to optimal health, or something like that sitting at home. I smoke, I drink, among other things , and I have not been to the gym more than for a couple of days since about 5 years ago. I don't know if the start of the Football season is a good time to get on a health kick because of he lifestyle just not being too healthy but issuing this type of challenge is a good start. I weigh about 240 lbs but don't look too fat. It's the smoking that I really would like to quit. Maybe I go to Russian hypnotist Yefim Shubentsov in Brookline Village (near to the Boston) to make quit the smoking without use of anal torture probe device to make quit. Always I have found this little bit intrusive but not too bad. Cheers.

Good to hear all the stories and urge all of us to remain focused and positive and stay the course.
Don't forget the point about sound body and sound mind I made. Without the laziness, alcohol, drugs, etc. we can all make wiser choices and be richer both financially and psychologically.

FISHHEAD....How long is your day...like three hours?

Personally I'm on my own fitness regimen....my right index fingers gets plenty of exercise rolling the wheel on the mouse that scrolls the page down....and my ass gets multiple reps for endless hours while I sit in front of that very same computer....no pain, no gain guys...

GD - Keep it up. It's always the hardest getting back into it. You made the biggest step just going to the gym.

SSI - What's up with the NO LEGS in the workout? The lightbulb look isn't in.

Had a short workout after work today: 3 sets, 10 reps, four upper body groups.
Wanted to ease back in to the weight training.
