Devendorfs suspension wasn't suppose to take place until after the appeal (Mid-Jan) but surprisingly his punishment has already been changed. He was suppose to miss the entire Spring Semester (meaning Jan until summer.) The Appeals board had it switched to this:
"Under a decision today by the University Appeals Board, Eric Devendorf has been immediately suspended from Syracuse University and is prohibited from all University activities, including participation on the men's basketball team.
"The Appeals Board decision modified the sanctions set by the University Judicial Board and imposed a community service requirement that Mr. Devendorf must meet should he desire to return to the University for the Spring 2009 semester. If he fulfills this requirement and returns, Mr. Devendorf must also meet an additional set of requirements to remain a student."

For an SU fan thats great! He's only going to miss the next six games opposed to the entire Big East play and postseason play. Problem is - I was planning on laying heavy on the Orange tomorrow thinking Devo would suit up the game. But obviously might not now that Devo won't be with the team. If I can get a decent line (maybe +10 or higher) I'd still play the Orange. Seemed Wednesday that Jimmy was favoring the taller lineup anyways (Onuaku, Jackson, Harris, Rautins, Jonny) which would probably be the better 2-3 lineup we could put out to contend with Memphis anyways.

Also - Jonny Flynn sat early in the Canisius game on Wednesday with a sore Hamstring (or something of the sort.) Boeheim said it's nothing serious but it's something to watch for.

Paul Harris also was having some soreness problems. He almost didnt play on Wednesday due to a sore back but said once he started playing he felt alright - and he looked fine to me notching another double double.

Wow thats great for Cuse. Got to love the student-athlete favoritism.

with all these injuries they should learn a lesson scheduling 5 game in 14 days. Totally uncalled for, and unnecessary

Flynn is now a game time decision. this should be interesting. could they just be throwing the game since chances are slim without Devo?

If he punched my daughter in the face, he would be MIA!

her parents were happy he did. after she pressed charges and all her dirty little secrets came out...ex..how she got ran through by the Buffalo basektball team, Syracuse Basketball team, and currently SU frat they were happy Devo slapper her.

He didn't her in punch the face. Her story kept changing. Don't you think if he punched her she would have a mark on her face? He got suspended for an argument basically b/c of his reputation and the stupid sh*t he's done in the past.

I attended Graduate School (Maxwell) at SU. Back then it was Archbold, Manley and Marshall St., no Dome. I guess things have changed. Hoops were so-so and football was #1. This kid is a classic case of a person that needs to get his degree to have a fighting chance in future America.

things def have changed up there. Jimmy Boheim happened to the basketball program, and football has tanked big time. I think the Carrier Dome has effected basketball in a positive way, but negatively in football. Why would kids want to come play football in an out of date dome, when they could play in the south, or west coast?
It really is unfortunate this happened to Devendorf because from all reports his injury was a wake up call to him. He was really improving as a person. He was starting to be a man. No longer was he not going to class and not worrying about his education. Pre injury he planned on leaving Syracuse to play professionally after his junior season. I think it would be safe to say he would never have made it back to finish his degree. But like I said he started going to class, and has improved his grades. He decided no matter what he would stay at Syracuse a full 4 years and graduate. He also began working much harder on his game. He was putting much more time in than he used to. It was also said he was becoming a better teammate. For the most part he also cut out most of the trash talking he did on the court. Even Bohiem had to recently remind him that he wanted to see the old Devendorf, who is out there woofing. He says it gets him going. This set back was unfortunate for a kid who has a bad rep, and was trying to right himself for the future.

I really can't see Syracuse being a +10 dog to Memphis here. I'd say the line should be Memphis -4 at most, maybe -3. Devo to me isn't a massive loss at all. It does hurt the talent level, but they can go on just fine without him. If Flynn isn't in that makes a bigger impact but we'll wait and see who's in and who's out. If Flynn plays anything over +4 for the orange is a great value play.

i'm not even someone that thinks highly of this cuse team, i just like this spot for them to pick up a nice road W.

su +7.5, if i bet on Syracuse games I would be all over this

I only bet them as road dogs when I expect them to win! That way I can ignore the spread and as usual just scream at em to get the victory.

Chances are slim we pull away with a victory here but I'll take the 7.5
