President Donald Trump welcomed the Japanese prime minister and his wife to his ‘winter White House’ in Mar-a-Lago after jetting off for a weekend of ‘golf diplomacy’.
At a dinner on Friday evening at the luxurious resort, President Trump was joined by his wife Melania, as well as Shinzo Abe and his wife Akie as well as Robert Kraft, the owner of the Super Bowl winners the New England Patriots.
The group enjoyed a lively evening as the President revelled in his winner’s circle – as Trump hopes to improve the United States’ relationship with Japan.

First Lady Melania Trump and Ivanka Trump joined President Trump aboard Air Force One as he provided a family welcome to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe for their weekend getaway at Mar-a-Lago.
The first lady, who spent the week in New York, rejoined her husband and climbed the steps of the presidential plane to pose for a photographs and onlookers.
She removed her wide sunglasses as she greeted the prime minister with a handshake, but put them on as she turned at the top of the stairs as they prepared to revisit the 'winter White House' after a week away.
President Trump, the first lady, the prime minister, and the prime minister's wife, Akie, all waved for a joint photo at the top of the stairs before boarding.

Ivanka Trump boarded the plane at Joint Base Andrews alongside her husband Jared, a top White House adviser, wearing an overcoat and her own shades on a blustery day.
The couple had both been spotted at the White House earlier Friday, as they walked along the colonnade within sight of press photographers.
Trump and Abe plan to play golf in Palm Beach at Trump's Mar-A-Lago property - a 'personal gift' from the president to his foreign companion.
Trump is returning a bit of generosity displayed by Abe when the two men met at Trump Tower, when Abe presented him with a gold colored golf club driver. It wasn't known whether the president would use the club during their joint outing.
Trump met with the foreign leader in the heat of judicial disputes over his controversial immigration ban.
At Air Force One today, he said: ' "We will win that battle. The unfortunate part is that it takes time statutorily, but we will win that battle,' the POTUS told CNN.
He continued: 'We also have a lot of other options, including just filing a brand new order.'

The family treatment was the culmination of a day full of signs of affection between the two powerful economic allies.
When Abe arrived at the White House on Friday, Trump pulled him in for a handhold and a distant hug - a warm greeting for the man he met just after his election.
Trump later gave Abe a firm handshake as they sat down in the Oval Office, patting Abe's hand. 'You have a strong handshake,' Trump told him.
At a press conference later Trump said he was so friendly with Abe because they have a 'very good bond, very, very good chemistry.'

Abe was generous in his own remarks – and at one point pitched an infrastructure project that would run high-speed MagLev trains 'from the Washington dc to New York where Trump Tower exists' – making the journey in just an hour. Japan specializes in the high-speed rail technology.

Trump said at the White House he wants to bring the post-World War II alliance with Japan 'even closer.'
Taking a cue from Trump's campaign slogan, Abe said he would welcome the United States becoming 'even greater.'
The two men are also expected to have a joint dinner with their wives.
Before the two men met in the Oval Office, Trump provided a signal of stability to Asia by telling Chinese President Xi Jinping he reaffirmed the 'one-China' policy that has guided U.S. policy for decades.
Trump had called this into question when he took a congratulatory call from the leader of Taiwan after his election win, angering Beijing.
'I believe that will all work out very well for everybody, China, Japan, the United States and everybody in the region,' Trump said.
