Best Bet (15 - 24 / $64.60): KING MUFASA (4th)

Spot Play: STAGE STAR (9th)

Race 1

(1) RED SOLO CUP colt put in an eye-popping effort first time on the track and should only move forward off that. If the well bred 3-year-old stays trotting it's just a formality. (5) POWERFUL FORCE mare was just even in her first start off a long layoff. The 5-year-old trotter has some ability and should be better second time out. (6) MR MUSCLEMANIA has good tactical gate speed which should put him in a decent spot turning for home.

Race 2

(1a) LOVE THIS PLACE has been knocking heads with some rough customers but finally finds an ideal spot to get a win. (5) WHISTLE PIG mare has been on her game and a fast pace to close into would improve her chances. (4) LOVE YOU ALWAYS probably needs some racing luck to hit the top spot but should be used underneath.

Race 3

In a really weak field (2) ON MY OWN has the most upside and the best connections. (6) SAMMI'S SONG mare is one for fifty-eight lifetime but would be a threat should the top choice falter. (9) FOXY THREE SOCKS finds a field full of question marks and showed a really nice burst of speed in the qualifier.

Race 4

(5) KING MUFASA will be on the move early and should be much tighter in his second start. (3) POWERFUL SPEED classy trotter has really turned it around and just needs to make the gate for a piece. (7) SARA THE SPY will look to make it three straight but it will be much tougher in this spot.

Race 5

In a field with few contenders (9) CARNOUSTIE drops down to the bottom level and should crush these with a decent effort. (6) EARTHLY DESIRE mare was very competitive for the connections at this level just a short time ago. They have had a few weeks to get her turned back around and could be the only threat to the favorite. (1) OSAGE raced well last out from a tough spot and should benefit from the best post.

Race 6

(5) BAILEY'S WISH filly can atone for her early season miscues in less than two minutes with this race. The 3-year-old trotter has made two breaks in three starts but could be tough if she makes the lead. (9) MACIE RAE filly will take heavy tote action but will be facing her toughest task yet. (2) LORA LEE BREEZE has flashed some ability when she minds her manners.

Race 7

(2) LEANMEAN NORMAJEAN is hit or miss but a hit draws off against this bunch. (3) DEE DEE SAGE mare used to be much better than these but hasn't been right in quite some time; command a price. (5) MISSY'S DIAMOND looks to have just as much ability as everyone else in the field and should offer a big price.

Race 8

(2) CUZIMALEGEND should offer some value in a wide open race. (5) IGETAGOODFEELING well bred filly has been slowly improving; threat. (6) OUR MISS SPECIAL was a game winner last out and the barn has been sending out a lot of winners recently.

Race 9

(10) STAGE STAR has been on a roll and could offer better value coming off a scratch. If the sophomore pacer is right she could be the horse to beat. (3) JOYFUL GAME set a lifetime mark last out and would be tough with a similar effort. (5) ARROYA BLUE CHIP well bred filly usually offers low value and is prone to tire late.

Race 10

In a really tough race to handicap (4) BRUSH THIRTEEN has popped at a price twice so far and just needs the right setup for the trifecta. (6) COME N BET IT was an easy winner at this level last out but has a history of coming up short off good efforts. (2) GALACTIC STAR got caught up in an early battle last race but has been sharp; threat.

I think NURSE STEPHANIE is a very good choice. Overall the Speed Figures of this animal look formidable in this outing. Has a very strong record at the distance and surface, which makes me back this mare. Looks very good against this group and will probably be one of the early speedsters. PURPLE STARDUSTER - Overall the Equibase Speed Figs of this equine look competitive in this outing. The Equibase Speed Fig of 63 from her latest race looks respectable in here. WE NEED ALGEBRA - Ought to go to the lead and may never look back.

Well folks ... this race is named in honor of Mizdirection who not only won multiple graded stake tests, including back-to-back wins in the 2012 and 2013 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprints. She hit the board in 16 of her 17 career starts, winning 11 times, banking more than $1.7 million for her owners. She was trained by Mike Pupe, and ridden by the gutsy Mike Smith. In this year's edition, #1 TRIBAL SPY, has hit the board in "POWER RUN FASHION" in four straight, and this recent streak of racing consistency also includes a trio of "POWER RUN WINS." #6 SKY HIGH GAL, a 4-1 shot, qualifies as a TrackMaster PLUS "PowerPony," and has hit the board in three of her last five outings, winning twice, including a "POWER RUN WIN" in her 2nd race back.

Well folks ... just in case you are wondering ... storied Darby Dan Farm has been churning out some of racing's best since 1935. Under the leadership of the Phillips family dating back to 1988, they have found particular success with grass fillies in the care of trainer James Toner. One of their finest was Wonder Again. The full sister to Japanese champion Grass Wonder won the Noble Damsel (G3), New York (G2), and Garden City (G1) at Belmont Park, home of her namesake race. She was also victorious in Saratoga's Lake Placid (G2) and Diana (G1). Here in the first running of this stakes event which will reward both the winner, and the 2nd place finisher an automatic invitation to the Belmont Oaks, #4 DARING DANCER is undefeated in a three race career to date, with her last two "Circle Trips" also qualifying as "POWER RUN WINS." SCEALEILE - A campaigner coming back this promptly after a strong race is a good omen. Nice return on investment for this rider and conditioner twosome. I think that a sprinter coming off a layoff will usually run her best in the 3rd or 4th start back. I like the hard fact that this filly's last figure, 81, is tops in this bunch. COSMIC EMERGENCY - I think that this contest's shorter trip should help this filly. The Nov 27th race at Penn National was at a class level of (93). Dropping down the ladder based on class rating points drastically, so she should be in a good place. Lower impost of -5. In my opinion, a movement of 5 is important, so this filly falls into this category. This entrant earns a lot of cash per race around the track. I believe she will boost the lifetime bankroll right here in this race. SHAYE APPEAL - I expect this race horse to astonish some people this time.
