Terrell Suggs is used to being a hot topic in the middle of the Ravens'
heated rivalry with the Steelers.
But with a shoulder injury casting doubt on his status for Sunday's AFC Championship Game, the Ravens' Pro Bowl linebacker can only wish the buzz were about bounty allegations and cheap shots that have added spice in the past.
"I would rather talk about that stuff," Suggs said Thursday, with his strained right shoulder in a sling. "(But) this game is bigger than all that nonsense. It's 10 times bigger than cheap shots."
Suggs, hurt in Saturday's victory against the Titans, hasn't practiced this week and is taking a "wait-and-see" approach to Sunday. He hasn't missed a game in his six-year career.
"If I feel that me going out there will hinder us, that we'll be playing with 10 (defenders), then the decision is obvious: I can't go," said Suggs, who has a team-high 10 sacks, including the playoffs.
Suggs is among several high-profile players nursing injuries. Steelers all-pro safety
Troy Polamalu (calf) returned to practice Thursday after sitting out Wednesday's drills.
He's not the only big-time player with an uncertain outlook. Cardinals Pro Bowl wide receiver
Anquan Boldin (hamstring) has practiced two straight days after missing last week's win in Carolina.
"He looked better today,'' coach
Ken Whisenhunt said of Boldin on Thursday. "It looks to me like it's improving and he's feeling better.''
Eagles running back
Brian Westbrook, averaging 1.9 yards a carry in the playoffs, hasn't practiced this week while rehabbing a sore left knee that's bothered him for weeks.
"I've been battling injuries all year long," Westbrook said. "I continue to be positive I can do things I need to help this team."
Suggs can relate. "I'm doing whatever I can," he says of his rehab. "I've never missed a game, and I definitely don't want to start with the AFC championship."
