VIC was first to raise notion of some "side action" on this or that component of our ongoing season-long NHL contest moderated by SS and J0H
I've got an idea I'd like to lob up in that vein and welcome feedback. I'll be heading out of office after I post this but should be back this evening.
=======
I propose a secondary Contest - "MondayMadness"
WHO - Limited to the 10 men currently competing in season-long NHL Betjam Contest
WHEN - The secondary contest is limited to MONDAYS ONLY (I am happy to grade with other contestants oversight welcome) beginning with Monday Dec 1
This would include 18 Mondays since Jan 26 is a leaguewide OffDay for AllStar Break
HOW IT WORKS
The core rules are exactly same as Betjam Contest with regard to posting deadlines, posting formats, use of Greek for prices etc
Must make a minimum of 25 selections with a maximum of 72 (18x4)
Must make at least five selections in the final three Mondays
None of the current BJam contestants need jump in immediately on Dec 1, but you must have made at least one selection as a declaration of participation by Monday Dec 15 (third week).
PRIZES
Winner Take All
Other contestants in the (henceforth to be glossed) MondayMadness will quite simply be trusted to pay their losing amount to the MM winner within a reasonable time....say end of April?
Monies can be sent through the mail or transferred from and to respective individual Betjam accounts.
How much is the prize?
Also simple.
Each selection you post costs you $1
This means the end prize pot will be no more than $720 (if all ten of us made 72 selections). But it also hopefully means the end prize pot is at least $300-350, thus matching a contestant's overall investment in both the BigContest and the MondayMadness contest
And as you can see, the maximum risk for any one of us would be $72 for the MM contest.
Finally, given the much smaller exposure in $$, no one need deal with actually paying until the MM contest winner is confirmed.
=====
Bottom line is this idea is intended to provide a friendly and reasonably low investment side contest wherein all of us can "start fresh", albeit towards a smaller prize.
Feedback welcome....I considered suggesting $2 per MM selection and am not opposed to that.
This poses not much more exposure since each of us can continue to individually determine how much he wants to put in the pot while knowing your maximum exposure (in this case) would be $144 while at the same time creating presumably a significantly larger MM prize pot. (Potentially $1440)
IF YOU FELLAS were to collectively agree to a $2 per MM selection, I'd close by suggesting that such an agreement would also include modifiying my above Proposal to include TWO WINNERS at a 65/35 ratio.
Cheers and of course BOL to us all for a successful Sunday.
