LOL

Don't be down on low-income kids who do poorly in school. A remarkable, groundbreaking, truly new and original study has uncovered the totally unexpected, unbelievable, outfield flyball fact that kids who have stable homes, Internet access, and literate parents who care about their education tend to scholastically outperform kids that don't.

WOW!

Interesting reading. What is your point..? Rich kids parents care enough to send them to better schools but not enough to get involved in their lives..? one9

I grew up with little money and I now have a college degree and doing ok for myself. The opportunities are available for all to have success.

I takes some work and some luck, but we all can do it.

I just thought it was hilarious that apologetics for the failure of the public school system have come out with a study that puts kids on a curve based on "socioeconomic factors" and therefore "proves" that in fact they are not failing, but succeeding ... just in a failish sort of way.

I understood your point and agree whole heartedly. The NEA spends too much time and money lowering public expectations and justifying inadequacies in our public schools.

Study proves poor kids...

Phaedrus,

I fear subtle or ironic posts are wasted on these readers; a prime example being DaWoof's poorly written, poorly spelled and very poorly thought-out self justification and not surprisingly, simplistic reply.

Hey let's hear it "for doing okay"!

However, as this is my first post after nearly seven years of reading here with some regularity, I should say thanks to you for being thought-provoking enough to finally get me to register and post.
