After Sept 11th, Most people thought the Economy was going to spiral downward for years. It did in the immediate aftermath of the attack, but has been on a steady rise since.

There are still naysayers, but a panic move of Tax increases, and more Govt Aid (although even W. did too much of that) and the Economy would not be anywhere near where it is.

Luckily he stuck with the Tax cuts.

I'm not worried - I was just curious if the Iraq war was a strain on the stock market or economy - it does not appear to be.

Economy is in great shape if you look from the stock market angle.

In the real world- dollar at record low, foreclosures on the rise, trade deficit don't even ask, 2 billion a week wasted for useless war, energy prices soaring, retail sluggish, food prices rising. Aside from that, everything is great

Some people don't understand that the economy is not defined as the stock market. The inflation tax is good for the stock market but bad for most people.

The stock market has steadily increased for the last 60+ years.

When are people going to stop pointing at it as a sign their favorite president is some economical wunderkind?!

Grabbing at straws here. Give me a break.

when you have a fractional reserve monetary system based on credit

companies must grow or die

but does growth, production increases and effieciency really mean human happiness?

Rob you say this everytime, its a weak argument.

Given the circumstances over the past 6 years or so this market SHOULD NOT be cruising along like this. The bond market is not signifying a huge inflation problem, the housing bubble is still deflating but there was never any pop.Subprimes effect a minimal % of the folks in the big picture and theres simply no way the "housing crisis" (dont forget these people put them selves in "crisis" for the most part) is going to zap this market or stop folks from spending their RISING "real" disposable income.Sorry.Look at rates, still extremely acceptable. The housing market certainly works in cycles (Id say were seeing the light at the end of the tunnel) and so does the valuation of the dollar.Lots of folks diversifying their reserves and its costing the dollar at this time. All things considered whoever inherits the next Administration should all be thanking this one for the economy theyll be fortunate to be policymakers of.I reckon the dollar and the housing market will both begin upswinging just in time to do away with the tax cuts in 2010.Then talk to me about the amount of cash in your bank acct.

Just for arguments sake ,who doesnt have a 401k or something? If you do then guess what, this market is about you too.If you dont, shame on you no wonder youre bitter.

Unemployment rates? Interest rates? Inflation rates (despite oil)?
Increasing tax revenues despite tax cuts? decreasing deficits?

Weak dollar not a bad thing, encourages us to buy American.

How do corporations make money again? could it be people are buying their products?

Does worldwide demand influence the price of oil?

Man, too man bottom line facts just don't reconcile with all your fears.

KTV, bumped into this article today.

New estimates from the Treasury Department projected the deficit for this fiscal year, ending Sept. 30, at $205 billion, down from $248 billion last year and half the peak of $413 billion that it reached in 2004. Administration officials said the better number was due to stronger than expected personal paychecks, corporate earnings and capital gains.

The new figure was still above estimates of the Congressional Budget Office and some private firms, which have reported that the deficit could be in the range of $150 billion this year. The Treasury’s assumptions in projecting the deficit tend to be conservative, a practice that in the past has allowed Mr. Bush to claim that budget expectations have been surpassed.

What did repugs say was wrong with the the Clinton adm.

Too many heterosexual blowjobs.

Funny now homosexual romps with under age boys and many escorts are the in-thing, when they like the president.

I am a Liberal and I made a ton of money under Bubba's administration. I have also made a lot of dough in the last 3 month's especially on foreign oriented investments. I am a Capitalist Liberal. The only difference is that I now have more $$$$$ to donate to charity. We are all Capitalists. There might come a time when all the money in the world won't save you, it is not edible.

Do you think that all Americans are benefiting from the good economic news. Bush's War will always overshadow any positive results that this administration brings about. The MSM hates Bush, I don't know their complete reasoning. I think he is an incompetent moron but that is just me. I am almost to the point of feeling sorry for him but also apprehensive because we are all on his sinking ship. GL!

MSM wants dems to have control of house and white house so they can spend like madmen, the Republicans don't stand a chance in hell running on a pro war platform. The MSM, TPTB, the man, etc yearns for polarization.

Of course I don't for one minutes disagree with that. All i'm saying is they want either the republicans or democrats to have a strangehold on congress and the white house at the same time that way alot easier for them to spend like madmen.
