I just hear that the State of Virginia (hope I heard this correctly on radio) has plans to pass something to the state's constitution that would make the state unaffected by the recent Federal Supreme Court's ruling about emminant domain.
I'm no lawyer and didn't like the Federal Court's ruling a few weeks ago. But--which constitution (if there is a direct conflict, between Federal and State), carries the most weight?

Guess..I don't get the point of even having a Supreme Court on the Federal Level if a state can do something which is opposite their ruling.

The recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling merely gave the states the right to exercise the power of eminent domain in certain situations, it didn't mandate that they do. It is still legal for the states to ban the practice, in fact it already is banned in several states.

As long as it is not governed(i suck at spelling) Under the constitution. If its not, then states do not have to follow it.

There was a big Public outcry, and even on this board too on what a terrible ruling it was.

I said at the time it was the right ruling and recent events (like in Virginia) seem to support it.

Connecticut is now working to write law to protect property owners also. The Case before the Court was from New London Ct.

Looks like some States are doing the right thing and getting some Laws Written to protect land owners.

Great for the States, and Excellent job by the Justices to get Lawmakers to do their job.

Not here! Let me tell you how the scam works where i live....they been doin it for years.

They take a farmer with say 3000 acres. its worth maybe 2-4000 an acre....they take his land, give him his bottom dollar price....then they use federal dollars to dig a lake ....call it a water conservation project....then they divide the land into plots maybe 3-4 ways....the state reps, sens what have you buy them for a few pennies more than they pd the farmer..they in turn use stae funds to build roads to what is now their private property....then divide it into say 1/2 to 1 acre lots....and start selling these "lakefront properties " to individuals for upwards of $100,000 per acre....each scum sucking rotten ass should be jailed if not shot politician cleans up to the tune of millions of dollars each....ALL LEGAL.....THEY EVEN BRAG ABOUT IT IN THE PAPERS........

AND WHATS WORSE?????? the ignorant stupid uneducated no brain moronic inbred dumbasses of this state re-elect every damn one of em.....in the last state wide elections the sorry bastards were re-elected at a 90% clip.....we passed term limits.....all the senators ran for house seats and the house members ran for senate.....AND THEY ELECTED THE SAME SOB'S AGAIN!!!!!

These crooked bastards are raping and pillaging this sorry ass excuse for a state AND NOBODY GIVES A FLYING F U C K ABOUT IT.........we have the most crooked rotten ass officials anywhere and cannot get rid of em.

you ever heard of Mary Landrue?? shes our state senator...heres how she gets elected....they take the 2.5 million ghetto living welfare collecting citizens of new orleans and bring them all to the polls, give em a pack of smokes or a cold drink and tell em to vote for her..well guess what? theres only 2 million more people in the whole rest of the southern part of the state!!!!! even if every one of them vote against her....SHE STILL WINS!!!! This is how the sorry bastard J BENNETT ( what state im i from) JOHNSTON held the seat for 20 years....he never showed his face in this state till election time and never done a damn thing for it either.....

F a bunch of emminent domain......these stupid people get exactly what they deserve!!!! nothing!!!!!

you want more??????? im on a roll now why stop.....lol they passed a bill repealing all kinds of sales taxes in exchange for an income tax increase....a big income tax increase....the law stated they couldnt put the taxes back on either.....sounds like a helluva deal right????? well THE VERY NEXT SESSION THEY CALLED ALL THESE TAXES FEES AND PUT EM BACK ON!!!!!!!!! now our state income taxes are high as giraffe *****, they eliminated all the deductions and instead of sales TAXES we pay FEES!!!!!!

and STILL THEY KEEP REELECTING THESE MF'RS...

I could go on but my blood pressures so high just from typing this i need a valium and a nap.

govt to citizens......:finger: and heres what will do for you tomorrow....:hump:

Excellent decision Koidog? An absolutely horrendous decision; a complete misinterpretation of the Constitution.
