Anyone else think so? He's done okay so far this season with some cream puff teams but the guy just is not one of the top 5 QBs in the nation. His ratio last year was crap despite having a strong team around him. He's not a horrible QB by any means but this guy is getting #1 pick love and I don't think he's top 2 or 3 in the SEC to be honest.

I agree. He's never really impressed me when I watched him.

Stafford has a great arm and makes NFL type throws if they ever opened up the offense forget about it. Now is he the best college qb statistically No, not at all. He will be top 3 qb out of anyone coming out this year and will play on Sundays. He has a better shot to play then Tebow, I'll give you that much.

Who in the SEC is better than him?

Tebow because of his mobility and ability to throw on the run, not his numbers.

After that, it's hard to place him. I think I'd lump Stafford in with Parker Wilson, Jarrett Lee, and maybe even Casey Dick.

Lee is young but I think he'll take a big step forward in the 2nd half and be a star.

Tebow has better mobility than Stafford for sure. Vince Young has better mobility compared to Jay Cutler. Who would you take?

JP Wilson vs Stafford this weekend is a perfect matchup. Will Wilson get some pass protection? He's very familiar with scrambling. JP Wilson will pass on Georgia. :103631605 alwatts

Tim Couch has better arm strength than Steve Young. Who would you take?

Tebow is an all-around better QB than Stafford, not just because of his mobility.

Then I guess Jake T your better at picking pro prospects than most everyone else. When Tebow can make 25yd out pattern from the opposite hash I may start to agree with you but until then I say Stafford along with the rest of the country. Excluding G'Ville FL

There's been a ton of guys who can make all the throws but that's not all it takes to be a pro QB. It makes the scouts drool but many guys who can make all the throws turn out to be out of the NFL in a few years because they either don't make the right reads or have no mobility.

Not saying Stafford can't be a great pro but he's getting all this hype but he only completed 55.7% of his passes with a 19/10 ratio last year and had time to make throws.

He is a great pro prospect because he can make all the throws but that doesn't currently make him an elite college quarterback.

Stafford last year: 55.7% completed, 19/10 ratio, 2523 yards
Parker Wilson last year: 55.2% completed, 18/12 ratio, 2846 yards

Not a ton different in those numbers. Stafford also played with a better team.

The guy is a top ten NFL pick according to an NFL combine service. He is the prototypical NFL style QB with the armstrength to make all the throws. Keep in mind the competition he is playing against week in and week out. He torched a supposedly good Arizona St. team last Saturday for 285 yards. He's thrown 5 TD's this year with no interceptions, over 60% completions on the year, and a QB rating of 152.6. You may not be impressed but at 6'3" and 237 pounds the guy is a stud.

It's not his size or arm strength that I think he is overrated for. He's got everything you could want in those regards. It's his decision making that has me thinking he's rated too high. Michael Vick could make all the throws and had a strong as hell arm but he made horrible reads. Stafford obviously has time to improve but I'm just saying let's make sure he's got it down before we call him the best QB out there.

PS, Stafford may have 5 TDs with 0 INTs this season but 4 of those TDs came against Central Michigan and Georgia Southern. In his last two against only above average competition in Arizona State and South Carolina, he has 1 TD.

Against teams like Florida and LSU I think he'll struggle somewhat.

I just don't think he makes the right throws.

Certainly, wouldn't compare him to Vick. Vick was an athlete playing QB and Stafford is passer playing QB. I've watched two of his games this year and most of his decisions have been good and the fact that he has no interceptions, after four games, would seem to be a decent indicator. He may not be the best but it's a damn short list of anyone better.

He also played behind an OL that was starting 3 freshmen. You say don't look at Tebow's numbers but then bring up Staffords. FWIW Vick couldn't make all the throws. We can agree to disagree.

Let's see ... they did loose but don't think he was playing defense in the first half. Overall, 24-42, 274 yards and 2 TD's, some terrific throws ... o.k. for not being one of the top 2 or three QB's in the SEC. Try to imagine where Georgia would be without him.

You're seriously going to compare Jarrett Lee favorably to Stafford after Lee's started all of 1 game at the college level? You have to be fuckin' kidding me.

And you've never watched an Arkansas football game if you're placing Casey Dick in the same category as Stafford.

Unbelievable.
