Still bitter after the loss on the Hornets/Suns total last night, but time to move on. Three plays for tonight....
Orlando/Memphis Over 191 2 Units
After their embarrassing opening night defeat, I expect a much better performance from the Magic tonight. They shot the ball horribly last time out, shooting only 37% from the field, including only 16% from behind the arc. Keep in mind, this is one of the better 3 point shooting teams in the league. I expect both shooting %'s to increase tonight against a below average defense. Memphis didn't score much in their opener either, however both Memphis players and coaches have been talking about ways to improve their scoring output. Players have been talking about wanting to run more. Coach is talking about being more aggressive and getting to the foul line. Both games between these two went over this posted total last season. I expect Orlando to score 100+ here, with Memphis making up the rest.
Denver/Los Angeles Over 199.5 2 Units
Two below average defenses in this one. Although the Nuggets are not the Lakers, I expect them to be able to put up points against this soft Clipper defense. Clippers are still missing Camby, a huge blow to them defensively. On the offensive end, the Clippers should find it much easier to score against this bad Nuggets defense. I think the Clippers are going to have to play more to Baron's strong suit, which is running. Denver will me more than happy to play this style as well. Even though Melo is out again, I see this Nuggets scoring 100+. The Clippers should do the same. Going with the over.
Portland Trailblazers +1.5 2 Units
Going to take a shot with the Blazers again. Going to throw out their opening night performance, as looking back it was a tough spot for them to open up against the Lakers in LA. Now they return home, where they had great success last season. Although they have lost 12 straight to the Spurs, these are not the same two teams. Portland is improved, even without Oden. I think Rudy is the real deal. San Antonio is not close to the same team as years past. Manu is out, as is Oberto. They are older and not as deep as previous years. This one should be close, but I think the home court makes the difference.
Best of luck!
