Personally, they have been an intricate piece of hardware for me in this business for years. To this day I still use them, probably more so because of me being stubborn and old school as much as anything else.

Yes, All professional clerks have clipboards. I use 2. One active backlogged with notes and one awaiting when something new rolls along. It is Like going to the Doctor and grabbing the patient info board when I get a call.

Here is a picture of me back in the late 80's on one of my daily trips to the track. You can't see it here, but I also used to carry a stopwatch. Now it is just laptop computers and I only have to leave the house once a month. I don't use the clipboard anymore, but I still keep her around for goodluck.

Time to step into the year 2005

Take a look at some of the current PDA's on the market. It can do so much more than your old school clipboard. Besides that, you can't fit your clip board in your pocket. Bottom line is you PDA can be with you every where at all times ready to run a spread sheet, do some analysis, get updated injury reports, ect.


You will wonder how you ever lived with out it.
