Sportsbet's College Bowl Thread (18-6 L24 overall/19-3 L22 totals)

OK I think the numbers are ironed out for the bowl run. I used tonight's bowl as a test and the numbers came out around 34.5 for the total so I'm pretty happy with the results so far. I know right now I have maybe 5 bowl totals that are very, very strong but I figure I will take this one at a time and see how it goes. I will update this thread one bowl at a time and I will post at least an opinion on every bowl total (it doesn't mean I will have a play on every one but I will at least throw out my 2 cents).

We are a week away from the Tangerine Bowl but I can tell you which way the game should go per the numbers I have.

I will definately be playing Syracuse +5 as I have them winning by 2 points in this one (so maybe a small ML play as well).

IF IF IF I was playing a total I would play OVER 43.5. The numbers come from the same totals formula that pumped out tonight's game at 34.5 (plenty under) and the same totals formula that is responsible for the 19-3 run. Again it's not an official play but if I play it I would play the over regardless of line movement.

Cuse +5 is an official play for me. Hopefully I can start off the bowl season with a bang.

Cuse giving up a defensive TD and a short field on the blocked punt. You're not going to win games when you are giving up easy scores like that.

On another note it's making the totals system look really good (2 for 2 in bowls if this one gets over 43.5). Too bad I haven't played any of them yet!

I always put at least a small play out even at the begining of a new system. I tried out a system this year involving home dogs of 10 or more with some #'s from the sagarin rating taken into account. It was a very simple system but it kept spitting out really bad teams. But, even at the start I'd put a little on each one. Before it was over I was 12-3 betting on teams like Baylor, Army and Vandy while always betting against Oklahoma and the Florida's. Look up Oklahoma's record ats and you'll se where I'm coming from. Nothing sucks worse than jumping on your own system too late.

Anyway I wish you luck and stick with your system even if the #'s look a little screwy, I'll tell you after about 4 weeks of winners I was taking 24-30 points with bad teams and actually feeling good about it.

Thanks for the well wishes john I have total faith (no pun intended) in my totals plays. I finally have a total that qualifies:

Bowling Green/Memphis UNDER 68

I should've posted this much earlier but at 68 it is still a play.

I got clobbered on the Cuse last night but the totals are still on a high note and this one comes up stronger than the first two (which have both been pretty close to the final score). Hopefully we right the ship with this play.

2 blowout losses in a row...here are tonight's plays:

Cincy +1

My totals formula has a total of 65 for the Marshall game (over) and 69 for the UCLA game (also over). Totals for all bowls to this point have been:

N Tex/S Miss Projected 34.5/Actual 41 (W)
Cuse/Ga Tech Projected 96/Actual 65 (W)
BG/Memphis Projected 67.5/Actual 87 (L when I played it at 68)

Blatently bad to this point. One total for tomorrow which is a play:

UConn/Toledo OVER 66

If all goes well this one shouldn't be a problem. Two very soft defenses IMO.

Ugh pitiful on the total again...starting to see some serious kinks in the armor in bowl season.

One side for tonight:

Way late on this line but I'll play it. Opinions on totals are both over but I'm not touching them with a 10 foot pole right now.

Because I seem to like pain (as has been my bowl season so far) and because I won't be around tomorrow most of the day I will post my 3 bowl plays:

Well of course I don't post today's plays and the totals are doing very well today (hard to believe based on the current bowl results here but 3-0 ATS on totals today). I'll post the last one for tonight in case anyone was wondering which way I am going tonight:
