North texas can't throw the ball, so it will be critical that Jamario is at full strength if they are to have a chance in this game. Anyone know what his status is as of today and what his chances are to be at full strength by game time?

Otherwise, S. Miss has clearly played better quality teams.

I have not heard the "official word" ....but some were saying if it was not cold and raining during the last game a few weeks ago he would have gone ......but they didn't want him to tweak the hammy when they already had the bowl game wrapped up. He should be ready to roll ......SM gave up alot of rushing yards in their last game.

Official ****** Dallas Morning News interviewed Coach Dickey and he said everyone is healthy and ready to go ......including Jamario.

I agree Gtaylor, the running game has opened up the passing game for Hall. He has really come around and had a nice year. I see UNT scoring quite a bit and SM getting their share of points too.

I see

UNT 34
SM 26

agree with gtaylor and el diablo here...really like UNT's balance on offense, compared to S. Miss's pass oriented offense...also really like their play calling...leaning towards N. Texas +5.5, maybe even some on the ML...

UNT last games was on 11/18/2004 giving them around 4 weeks off. This might have an effect on the game.

Any concern for the competition level of North Texas' opponents? They only played three winning teams all season and were beat handily in each. In addition, the only other non-Sun Belt team they played (Baylor) also beat them quite easily.

Have to side w/ T Man here. After watching S Miss go toe to toe w/ Cal last weekend, I have to believe they played a tougher schedule and are a better overall team. GL

If UNT get's behind big early, they will be in big trouble. If they get into a score and time situation where they have to throw the ball every down, they aren't going to have success. The only reason Hall has had success this year is they're great run attack.

Still a coin toss for me at this point, might just wait for later games. Leaning toward S. Miss, given the competition factor. Usually don't put much stock into that factor, but it's a big one here, NT might be getting too much credit for wins over weak teams.

UNT is the cream of the crop in the SunBelt and had trouble with the 3 Big 12 teams on the road in all 3. Colorado had the 4th best rushing defense when they played and Jamario ate them up. The thing that people are missing and saying is that SM has played better competition, ......yes and they got beat in those games. They beat a weak Nebraska, East Carolina, Houston, South Florida, and Tulane. The only good win was UAB. They were thumped in the other games with the better teams in Conf. USA. They were crushed by a very weak TCU team. Some times it comes down to match ups. UNT's running game will wear down SM, UNT needs to get a lead. UNT wants to run the ball and control the clock.

*** side note

I have read where SM has been holding study halls and they still have exams and they didn't have alot of time to prepare for the game.

UNT moved the exams around for a few days for the bowl game.

I will be down there :drink: on Bourbon street. :suomi:

So UNT losing 21-51 at Colorado is "eating them up"? I understand your point, Diablo, that UNT ran the ball with enough success to score 21 points, but it obviously wasn't enough to make this game even close. I'm taking S Miss who, although inconsistent, has actually played close games against (and even beaten) some of the big boys. UNT has a nice run going ATS, but those were all as favorites in conference. GL
