First Fidelity is right on top of things, even though I told them I would not play at their shop, and to take me off there list, continues to send me stuff in the mail, and very timely, today, i recieve the NBA, and NCAABB preview magazine...
However did get a laugh at some of the prognosticators and what they said....
In the NBA, they ranked the Eastern Conference as follows
1. Detroit
2. Miami
3. Indiana
4. Philadelphia
5. Milwaukee
6. New Jersey
7. Cleveland
8. New york
9. Boston
10. Toronto
11. Orlando
12. Washington
13. Chicago
14. Atlanta
15. Charlotte
Here are some interesting excerpts i read about some of the teams...
Philadelphia- Iverson moves to point guard after the trading of Eric Snow. It should be an interesting season in Philly. The Sixers should be improved with the addition of some quality big men up fornt and a renewed attitude behind Jim Obrien.
Milwaukee- Just a 4th quarter away from home court advantage in '04. Milwaukee is one of the few teams in the East whose roster wasnt overhauled since June. That stability and Terry Porter's style should have them in contention again..
Chicago- The Jamal Crawford era in Chicago is over, not that it ever took off. perhaps just another excuse for this struggling franchise to "rebuild".The Bulls just keep missing on former college greats who leave or don't materialize.
Washington- Golden State has moved East with the re-teaming of Arenas and Jamison, but like the Warriors, the increased excitemetn likely won't be matched by more wins. Washington seems submerged in the NBA spiral of losing.
Western Conference Rankings
1. San Antonio
2. minnesota
3. Sacramento
4. Houston
5. Denver
6. Memphis
7. Dallas
8 Lakers
9. Utah
10. Portland
11. phoenix
12. Seattle
13. New Orleans
14. Golden State
15. LA Clippers
Minnesota- Coming off a franchise best season, the TWolves go into 2004-05 virtually unchanged. Good move, considering they have the game's dominant player in Garnett and a helathy Cassell may have led them to the finals last year.
Houston- McGrady has yet to play with a competent big man. He and Ming form a lethal 1-2 punch, perhaps tops in the NBA. Still, the Rockets are shy in the other postiions and will need big years from role players to have a shot int he West.
These last 2 are my favorites.....
Phoenix- Richardson and nash form an exciting backcourt for this yourng team. With Stoudemire and Marion upfront, things are promising again in Phoenix. The Suns should improve the 29 win total, but the playoffs may be a year away......
Seattle- Seattle had a nice draft but lost a lot of backcourt with Barry's exit. Fortson is a nice addition from Dallas but the Sonics still lack a significant inside presence. This could be another "rebuilding" year for this franchise.
