If I do o.k. on Sunday I'm taking my boys plus the points. Denver looks awesome so far, but look who they've played. Raiders have struggled for sure, but, I'm going to gamble that Rich Gannon and company get their shit together for this one and at least make it close. Sometimes these battles can be real nail-biters, but, they often seem to be won with a big play at the end, which 5 points might not cover... still... I'm not ready to believe that last year's AFC champions should be 5 point dogs to a team they beat twice last year, even with Jerry Porter and Rod Woodson out...

I imagine they're going to focus on stopping Portis, which I think they did pretty well last year, so if they can do that and force Jake Plummer beat them, watch out, Charles Woodson or Buchanon should be able to pick him off at will

Havent missed a Bengals game in 7 or 8 years, so I got to watch both games this year.

Looking back at the raiders/bengals game, the final score should have been 27-6 or something like that. Raiders got 7 pts off of a horrid call in the 1st quarter and then the 14 pt turnaround for the INT TD. The Broncos looked great with the run and against the run. On the other hand, the raiders looked horrid against the run. Portis should run at will.

Plummer sucks though, so Oakland should be able to concentrate on the run. But if the raiders cant move the ball against Cincy, can they against Denver?

Don't think the game should
be any more than three. I'll
take the extra points with a
team that can win the game
straight up. Too much emphasis
based on Denver's two wins against
weak Arizona and Cincinnati teams,
and the Raiders possibly looking
ahead to this game last week.

I'll agree they looked really bad against the Bungles. And they usually play very well at home, but someone pointed out that in the past 2 years they've played down to inferior opponents at home, maybe playing lazily and looking ahead or whatever, but still, last year's Raiders obviously would havemost likely manhandled the Bengles in Oakland. I've seen Gannon have bad days before, and they don't last forever. His back is a concern, though, if he's hurt it could get ugly, but, maybe not, a little shot and his back should feel fine, right? This is almost a must-win game for them, they surely don't want to fall 2 games behind Denver and the Chiefs. If the line was only 3 there's no way I'd take the Raiders the way they've been playing...

I'm taking them at +5.5.

There was expressed frustration by some of the RAIDER players last week due to the calls made by the coaching staff. This was a result of trying to freshen up the play calling so other teams will have to spend more time preparing for them.. After listening to some of this weeks interviews the raiders are going to revert somewhat to what they are more comfortable with this week. Both teams know each other very well, and it all comes down to execution, which I feel the Raiders will bring on their "A" game for this BIG match-up.
I think with Porter out some of the newer stuff isnt working out as well as thought to be, since stretching out the Defense is no longer an option. There are a lot more reasons that I haven't listed.......but in a nutshell, even if the Raiders happen to lose, anything over 3 points is a gift.

Oren1,

It would take 10 points for me to take Oakland in this situation. I think the line moves to 6.5 by kick off.

No segment of Oakland's game has impressed me - or gives me any semblance that Oakland can win this game.

Adv, you got another good card there this week but your weakest link on there is laying 5.5

points against last year's AFC champs. Gannon is going to shake off his Superbowl hangover, play well, andl find a way to get the ball downfield even with Porter gone, the defense is going to stop Portis and force Jake to throw, meaning turnovers in the Raiders favor, and the Raiders will win straight-up.

I hope it goes up to 6.5 if it does I'm gonna bang the moneyline and hold on to my balls! It's at +210 right now.

Oren- I don't play much NFL because I think the quality of the play and the officiating is horrible. I watched the second half of the Bengals- Raiders game last week and the Raiders were pushed all over the field by the Bengals and were lucky to win the game. They made Jon Kitna look like an NFL quarterback. The Raiders have no pass rush and their defense overall is one of the slowest in the NFL. They make lots of mistakes and are very sloppy.

They got away with it against Cincinnati but it will be a long night if they play like that in Denver. I hope you cash but this outfit will make you sweat every minute of that game.

I'm just getting pumped for the game more than anything, really, so far the Raiders have shown nothing this year. But they had a bad run last year as well and the Denver game is what snapped them out of it. They stopped Portis from running wild and capitalized on a pick thrown by Griese to throw the game in their favor. I've got a feeling they might start to turn in around again this year, this could end up looking like the same game. Denver is not as good as everyone thinks, and the Raiders match up with them pretty well. I do expect to sweat it out to the end. I might take the side and a smaller play on the ML just for kicks, even though honestly yeah this game scares me. It's not like you're taking the Cardinals or Detroit money line, however, they've got a legit shot at beating Dungver.
