(read, giving stump speeches and preparing for the debate). John McCain is in Washington leading.

John McCain is doing what Joe Biden said a leader must do: "Part of what being a leader does is to instill confidence, is to demonstrate what he or she knows what they are talking about and to communicating to people ... this is how we can fix this," Biden said.

John McCain is addressing America and the World in NYC.

John McCain is shedding light on Clinton's Global Initiative, to the delight of Clinton I'm sure.

So tell me, what's the wiser political move again?

Now it's just a matter of spin.

Whose camp is going to spin it better and how the media will portray it.

Political stunt or heroic behavior.

This is his probably his best shot at taking his strongest attribute "country first" and morphing it into the economic crisis.

I concur to a large extent, although making sure this thing gets modified and passed is very important.

It's the spin part I like, there is no way you can spin McCain's speech to world leaders in NYC as anything but leadership. At least that's how the GP will see it, IMHO.

This Bill is finished, all that is needed is the vote, which neither candidate will vote on. Wrong decision on McCain's part. The White House meeting will look like a photo op that Obama was Ordered back to partake in. Dodd, Shelby, Bennett, Schumar, Frank, and Bachus will get credit for the bill and it will look like McCain is just trying to hang his hat on the work of others.

JMO, but I wish he had handled it differently.

There are times when multi-tasking should NOT be done. This is a historic time in our country and this is a prime example of when multi-tasking should NOT be done and all focus should be on this situation.

If there is another crisis of some sort whether it's economic or security or something else do you want the President to be multi-tasking?

This is pretty funny

Later Update: Latest McCain camp line, in response to question of whether debate will go on Friday with an empty podium: Obama can always debate Joe Biden.

If Mr. President McCain can't make the debate, shouldn't he send in his second in command, Vice President Palin? Isn't that one of those things that the VP does every day, standing in for the President when he's indisposed. Or does the VP run and hide?

There is one small problem. Neither McCain nor Obama are in fact President and it's inappropriate for them to act like they are. There is a line of command here and the appropriate people are doing their jobs. McCain or Obama elbowing their way in is nothing but inappropriate political posturing at a time when that is inappropriate as ever.

Lead by example, talk to the people, instill confidence

not cover you eyes, ears & mouth

Now I don't need any of the above, but most of the public does

So now what McCain did yesterday was effectively make tomorrow night's TV ratings sky rocket for the debate (which he will be at, you can bet that).

Pure genius perhaps (only if he trumps Obama).

I haven't seen either one acting like they are President. The only thing I've seen McCain do is act like a Senator by going back to Washington in this time of crisis.
