Bush sits for 7 minutes and no attempt to even bring down the planes still hijacked and we all (well 88% of us) rally behind him none the less and the bulk of the country supported a war with a budget of 200+ billion.

For over a year after 911 late night hosts and the press give bush a free pass. Shift money from the troops in Afghanistan for a war in Iraq? no problem. Make claims of "flying drones" and "dirty bombs" - no problem.

But our OWN FREAKING PEOPLE in the South get obliterated. In less than a week there are people "on the right" and even people in here who are claiming that 10-20 billion is a "waste" of money to rebuild one of the true jewels of our nation. Lest we forget that parts of Mississippi were obliterated and yet there has never been a question about rebuilding there.

This cult of personality thing is an embarassment for a country that claims to "lead the free world". People getting giddy because maybe the head of FEMA will fall on his sword but the man who appoited him can't be expected to be accountable. We blame the mayor and the governor, but god forbid the biggest natural disaster in our history hits the country and we're left with politicians on both sides vying for photo ops and patting eachother on the back.

Just look at this board. It's staggering how people support Bush no matter what. Guy is asleep at the wheel during 911..."others had the wheels in motion" - the guy says he'll fire anyone involved with the leak of a cia operative "well, anyone convicted" - no big deal. The guy is stomping around with a guitar like Nero while a big part of our country is in turmoil "well, lets blame the mayor"

An absolute joke. I'm not saying this disaster was Bush's fault...I'm not blaming his enviro policies either. However, we can drop 500,000 meals on Afghani's but we can't drop water and sandwiches by the thousand to keep people alive until the "cavalry" arrives.

But hey - keep showing those pictures of those busses in the water. It's nice to know that thousands of dead can still be painted "red or blue" under the man who said he'd unite the country.

Yeah...88% support in October 2001 - I'm sure it's purely a dem/repub type issue. You addressed nothing of what I wrote - just belched out another talking point. Good on you!

I post at 10-12 political sites. Do you know how many Dems mission in life is to get Bush impeached? Why? Because the Repubs impeached Bubba! I tell them to forgetaboutit; 1st, the Repubs own the US House because we are so inept, so articles of impeachment are ZERO chance of happening. 2nd, if he was impeached Dicky Do would be PREZ:monsters-

What a fvcking waste of energy!

The one that says "when you can't reply to specifics - echo the following"

- "Look at how Candidate XYZ changes his mind, he's a flip flopper"
- "Democrats offer no solutions - only criticisms"
- "The Dem platform is to oppose anything Bush says/does"

It doesn't take a membership card to get on the mailing lists for those who claim to be "protecting the country" from the supposed liberal left. In fact I get a daily briefing from my conservative buddy who forwards me his, and a weekly one that I subscribed to at newsmax a year ago.

Same thing...over and over...repeat...wash rinse repeat - bounce the ball on your nose.

Don't worry, I'm sure independant thought isn't a requirement or even a desire for you by the looks of it.

LOL - the guy posts at 12 sites about politics wants to comment on the energy wasted by others.

The Cannery must pay you very well to spend all this time at home hanging in 12 different political forums (all the while making the same point over and over...)

I only made it this far in the initial post before giving up on the rest:

Bush sits for 7 minutes and no attempt to even bring down the planes still hijacked

Just stop and think about how absurd that is.

He clearly wasn't expecting to be attacked (who the hell would be?). Don't you think its natural for him to be somewhat stunned when he hears that a plane rammed into one of our buildings? Christ, John Kerry said he watched TV for 45 minutes upon hearing the news. And when the first plane hit, we still didn't know at the time if it was merely an accident or terrorist attack. No one knew what was going on yet.

Secondly, you're suggesting that the POTUS should have been fully prepared for a situation such as this one, overridden his entire staff who was busy doing their jobs of gathering any information they could, and personally coordinated an attempt to bring down whichever planes may have been hijacked...even though we had no idea which of the thousands of planes in the sky they might be. And oh yeah, all of this had to happen within seven minutes. Since I don't think we got a fax from the Al Qaeda which detailed everything they had planned, how were we supposed to know which planes to go after?

FYI, the POTUS doesn't personally gather and analyze information. Thats what his staff does, and when our country is under attack, priority number one has always been to get the President somewhere safe and secure.

Besides, KT...what exactly could any POTUS have done within those seven minutes that would have made one bit of difference that day?

hahaha - JDueuce wins 2nd place with his "what about Kerry" response to this amazing Gump like perfomance by Bush.

How about when being told that America was under attack to say "by whom? with what? where? what exactly do we know? is it just planes? are there bombs? do we know who?"

Nope..7 minutes. can't upset the kids.

It takes a special kind of partisan to spin for a leader why sits and does nothing after being told we're under attack. Yes sir, special indeed.

Don't forget, this is the same guy who (along with Condi and Tony Blair) that Saddam could possibly be "45 minutes away" with current rocket technology. So they can use the 45 minute analogy to emphasise how serious it is, but say that 7 minutes is fine so he can wait for his seat to dry and the Secret Service can warm up the car.

Ok...gotcha.

I'll come up with a plan when you do 2 things.

#1 - respond with more than a morning radio RNC cliche to my post.
#2 - when you start a seperate thread for the discussion.

Until then - keep recycling those talking points. I've never disputed how effective they were.

I realize it's hard for folks like yourself, JDeuce, Sam and others to stray from the "party line" - but it still amazed me how you've all gotten bogged down in the first sentence or two of my post (hell JDeuce admitted he couldn't even get past the first couple lines)

But hey, I'm dealing with

- a guy who enters forums as a pretend democrat (Sam)
- a guy who doesn't realize that the edit box in therx forum will actually do the wrap around for him while typing (you)
- a guy who uses the avator of a gay sounding child cartoon character and believes that accountability goes all the way to the top --- as long as the "top" doesn't include the guy who appointed the people.

So I guess it's not exactly surprising that my post flew over your collective party carrying, talking point belching, cult of personality absorbing heads.

Bush must shoulder SOME of the blame. He is our commander and chief. In a situation like this the country looks to the president. He froze like a deer in the headlights.
