Texas' Will Muschamp says he'll remain the head coach-in-waiting and not bolt for Auburn.
Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp said Friday he has no interest in other jobs and plans to stay with the Longhorns despite multiple reports he was on the verge of being named coach at Auburn University.
Muschamp, who last month was named the successor to coach Mack Brown at Texas, said he has not interviewed for any other jobs.
A television station in Mobile, Ala., reported Muschamp was set to replace Tommy Tuberville at Auburn.
“I have not interviewed for any jobs,” Muschamp said in a statement. “I’m not interested in any jobs. I’m happy here, my family loves Austin and I’m going to be at Texas.”
Brown does not plan to retire soon, and Muschamp has said he will wait for the Texas job.
Muschamp, who was the former defensive coordinator at Auburn, received a salary increase to $900,000, making him the highest-paid assistant coach in the country.
