I mean, we all know the borders are basically open. Hundreds of thousand of illegals entering our country collecting welfare and medical benefits.

Most not paying taxes. Some are terrorists..others are here for the prophesized jihad.

What should we be doing? Just let anyone in? Kick them out? Encourage more? Build a wall?

Let's get it on record.

duuuuh, I believe in treating everybody with respect, and I'm not racist like conservatives are, and I don't hate anyone except people who complain their taxes are too high and gun owners

I think we need to have a balanced and fair and loving plan on immigration, we should even accept undocumented ISIS freedom fighters, although I think nativity displays are repulsive and having a penis doesn't mean you can tell me I have to use the men's room

any questions?

The current and past 35+ years of US immigration policy is working almost exactly in the way the prevailing market and those who run it desire.

If those w the true influence to change it wanted it different, it would be.

But with only a few exceptions they do not, so what you see is how it will continue to be

I personally have not a single complaint about US immigration policy.

Nor does Barman, in whose head I live.

I think we should be more strict on immigration, I don't think we should let everyone come across. Don't know what to say about illegals, not feasible to send them all back. Illegals who are established with children in schools should probably stay. I'll have to research it more, I don't have the anger at the illegals that come south of the border like some do. Building a wall I think is a bit nuts.

Just think in maybe 20 - 50 years Muslim is going to be the majority in North America, they have learned how to over come the white man and that's to reproduce reproduce and reproduce.

The United States began regulating immigration soon after it won independence from Great Britain, and the laws since enacted have reflected the politics and migrant flows of the times. Early legislation tended to impose limits that favored Europeans, but a sweeping 1965 law opened doors to immigrants from other parts of the world. In more recent years, laws and presidential actions have been shaped by concerns about refugees, unauthorized immigration and terrorism.

Since enactment of the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act, immigration has been dominated by people born in Asia and Latin America, rather than Europe.

In 1986, Congress enacted another major law – the Immigration Reform and Control Act – that granted legalization to millions of unauthorized immigrants, mainly from Latin America, who met certain conditions. The law also imposed sanctions on employers who hired unauthorized immigrants. Subsequent laws in 1996, 2002 and 2006 were responses to concerns about terrorism and unauthorized immigration. These measures emphasized border control, prioritized enforcement of laws on hiring immigrants and tightened admissions eligibility.

The most recent changes in immigration policy have been an exception to that pattern. In 2012, President Obama took executive action to allow young adults who had been brought to the country illegally to apply for deportation relief and a work permit. In 2014, he expanded that program (known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA) and set up a new program to offer similar benefits to some unauthorized-immigrant parents of U.S.-born children. The DACA expansion and the new program (Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents, or DAPA) are on hold because of alegal challenge by 26 states.

The proponents of the 1965 Hart–Celler Act argued that it would not significantly influence America's culture.

October 3, 1965: President Lyndon Johnson visits the Statue of Liberty to sign the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965.

President Johnson called the bill "not a revolutionary bill. It does not affect the lives of millions."

Secretary of StateDean Rusk and other politicians, including Senator Ted Kennedy, asserted that the bill would not affect America's demographic mix.

However, scholars point out that the immigration act shifted the ethnic composition of immigrants. The Hart–Celler Act allowed people to migrate to the United States from Asia, Africa, the Middle East as well as Southern and Eastern Europe.

By the 1990s, America's population growth was more than one-third driven by legal immigration and substantially augmented by illegal immigration, primarily from Latin America and other parts of the developing world.

Before passage of the Hart–Celler Act, immigration accounted for only ten percent of population increase in the U.S. Ethnic and racial minorities, as defined by the US Census Bureau. This percentage rose from 25 percent of the US population during the year 1990 to 30 percent in the year 2000 and to 36.6 percent as measured by the results from the 2010 census.

Similarly, during the same time period the non-Hispanic white population in the United States decreased from 75 percent of the overall US population in 1990 to 70 percent in 2000 and finally to 63.4 percent during the year 2011.

It is estimated that by the year 2042, white people not referring to themselves as Hispanic will no longer constitute a majority but rather only a plurality of the population of the United States. Minority groups, led by Hispanic Americans (mainly Mexican Americans), Black Americans, Asian Americans, Native Americans, and Pacific Islander Americans would together outnumber non-Hispanic White Americans. According to the 2000 census, roughly 11.1 percent of the American population was foreign-born, a major increase from the low of 4.7 percent in 1970. A third of the foreign-born were from Latin America and a fourth from Asia. The passage of the Hart–Celler Act contributed to increased illegal immigration from Latin America, especially Mexico, since the unlimited legal bracero program previously in place was eliminated.

Asians and Pacific Islanders (including international students from Asia) constituted 30 percent of the student population in California's public universities by 2000, and over 38% of the student population by 2011. The problems have centered on questions of multicultural identity as opposed to the melting-pot idea, debates on the economic impact of immigration, impact of illegal immigration, and fears of becoming a polyglot nation with English not the primary language.

Illegal immigrants aren't eligible for welfare, and legal immigrants must be here at least 5 years before they're eligible.

One dead, 3 hurt after stabbing spree at Germany train station

One person was killed and three others were injured Tuesday morning when a knife-wielding man attacked people indiscriminately at a commuter rail station outside Munich, Germany.

The attack happened in Grafing, about 20 miles east of Munich, shortly before 5 a.m. (11 p.m. ET Monday). The Munich newspaper Merkur reported that the attacker, carrying a four-inch knife, stabbed one man on a train, a second man in the station forecourt and two other men who were passing by on bikes.

Investigators told the Suddeutsche Zeiting newspaper that witnesses had reported that the attacker had shouted "Allahu Akbar!", the Arabic phrase meaning "God is Great!" during the assault. Merkur reported that the suspect had yelled, "You infidels!", among other statements.

Now I know what you're thinking, right wingers. But let's just hang on a minute here. Let's not, like, jump to any rash conclusions about the motive. It's all still very unclear.

Maybe Inspector BleedingPurple Clouseau can research this for us too!

With extremely harsh criminal penalties, and EXTREMELY heavy Civil ones on the companies that do so, and on their executives personally. :103631605

But you're ok with them being here sucking up the welfare system...which they do. As long as their are no voter ID laws?

I'm not against Trumps idea to ban Muslims from entering the country. Probably the right thing to do right now.
