China was the only country to retaliate against Trumps reciprocal tariffs and in the end got the same 10% rate the a 90 day extension as everyone else.

China came into the meetings with zero intention of budging 1 inch. But, Trump gave China everything they wanted and more so they had to take it. After china walked out after just 1 hr, Trump panicked and personally call XI and begged for China to return.

It was at this point Trump caved 100% and gave China everything they asked for, even De-minimus.

The stock market knows Trump is a weak leader and would cave quickly, thus the rally in stocks over the past 2 weeks. :popcorn:

I'm old enough to remember Tariffs were going to pay down the deficit, but only after DOGE cut spending by 2tn.....1tn.......150b......now 71bn. Where is Elon? I guess 81% sales decline in Europe for Tesla's is keeping him busy.

Sadly since he was fired from DOGE, no need to see him any more. :+clueless

What really happened, Walmart and Target told Trump shelves will be half empty in 4 weeks and Xmas will be a disaster. He better beg for China's forgiveness and give them what ever they want. Trump finally got the message and it was time to fold. Powell told Trump if PCE continues to move inflation higher he will be raising the fed funds rate by mid August.

US Treasury bonds are not out of the wood yet. Yields are higher today as the U.S. faces massive refi auctions for 10's, 5's and 1's yr treasuries, coming in 4 months. Every 1 BP in higher rate costs the U.S $50 billion in carry.

With all of this Trump and the GOP are pushing a 5tn tax cut. Their plan is to cut $800bn from Medicaid, this will result in rural and poor communities dying from hospital closures, and no health insurance. They will call it ending fraud and abuse.

Does Hegseth have the balls to turn the military out to shoot the masses taking to the streets to protest the end of Medicaid? I guess with a bottle of Gin, he can be convinced to do anything.
