I heard the ref say you want to kick... to me that is the ref coercing the outcome as I have not heard a ref in a coin toss say that before.

Slater won the toss and wanted the ball.. Total bullshit once again by the NFL .. NFL===WWE...

NFL needs, wants the Jets in the playoffs as the NYG are out.... Need that market involved. all about ratings and money..

Why would a ref say you want to kick in an o.t. coin flip? No one wants to kick they want the ball....

It's been reported that Bill Belicheck already told the refs they wanted to kick off prior to the coin toss. Procedure for the refs FROM a past ref says that they defer to the head coach prior the flip and if he says they want to receive/kick then the first call is the final call. The players do not get the option to override the head coaches call if he stated that he wants to receive the ball. Guess the NFL isn't fixed.

Here's what I'm thinking:

ref says "you wanna kick (probably was going to say or receive)" and the player says kickoff before the ref can even finish his statement.

I I guess he should have used better words such as "it's your option what would you like to do?"
