After reading the story, none of the ND players arrested were key players. Sounds like Friday night was party night for some of the ND Players.

The "summer heat" starts getting to these players plus they get "grouchy" and want to get the "edge-off" so they go snorting around at night looking for women. It's a dangerous time of the year leading up to the opening kick-off.

Redfield is a big loss. Two year starter at safety and was the Irish's fourth-leading tackler in 2015.

These guys need to contact the Can Robinson legal team asap.

While I hate to see these young student athletes make poor decisions such as this, as one already holding a Texas +5 ticket I won't be shedding any tears just the same.

Two separate incidents the same night. That is impressive. Does this qualify for double Fulmer Cup points?

the weed guys are all just misdemeanors ... nothing will come of it (nor should it)

the other guy, Devin Butler, might as well just go straight home from jail as he will get kicked out of school. it doesn't appear he was expected to be a contributor though...he was on the shelf with a broken foot and could not see action until mid-Oct anyway

South Bend police were called to a club, the Linebacker, at around midnight for reports of a fight between patrons and security. After police broke up the fight, they went outside and found a group of women fighting near the curb. When this happened, Devin Butler reportedly became very angry towards one of the women in the group. Butler allegedly lunged at an officer and started throwing punches after he was asked to back away.
He was arrested and handcuffed, booked on preliminary charges of battery on a police officer and resisting Law enforcement.
Formal charges are pending, officers from South Bend Police are working with the prosecutors office.

Whomever thinks these aren't big losses are crazy and not knowledgeable on College Football. Here's why:

1. They lost starters at WLB and FS. Those are key positions in reading and reacting to TEXAS's new offense. Both of those positions have to make fast decisions vs TEXAS's very fast slot receivers. They may have other good options at the Will, but they are now lining up a true freshman at FS with no depth behind him. Trying to defend an offense they've never seen.

2. TEXAS is going to run 85+ plays on offense. In hot humid conditions that the ND players aren't used to. They need depth in a big way. And they just lost a lot of it. You think that true freshman FS can go 90 plays trying to read and react to Armanti Foreman and Devin Duvernay?

3. TEXAS is already planning to feed them a large dose of power run game featuring two pounding bruisers and 2 dangerous change of pace RBs. Again, they are losing a lot of depth and experience up the middle. The safety they lost played a prominent role in their defense vs power run teams.

4. Stuff like this kills morale.

The weed is far from a misdemeanor when combined with a loaded weapon. Check the law.

as soon as you get something right i will stop calling you Wronghorn..... :missingte

until then...

Notre Dame vice president for public affairs and communications Paul Browne offered the following statement: "Any student arrested on a felony charge also faces dismissal from the university. The university will determine if additional sanctions should apply to any or all of the students charged."

Notre Dame senior cornerback Devin Butler, who's recovering from a foot injury, was also arrested early Saturday morning in South Bend and booked into the St. Joseph County Jail on a preliminary charge of battery to a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest, which are both felonies.

The charges levied against Redfield, Coney, Williams, White and Stepherson are all misdemeanors, a Fulton County Jail official confirmed. Those five players posted bond and were released from the Fulton County Jail in Rochester, Ind., Saturday afternoon.

The only starter was Redfield. Coney was not the starting WLB.

The Redfield loss is significant. The kid was a total waste of talent as a former 5-star recruit, although he never played like one. I'm just glad there were no defensive lineman in the car.

Notre Dame is doing their best to lose to Texass. They'll probably have to try a little harder...
