autographed M. Jordan Skybox autographics card

M. Jordan authentic jersey card

I might have to sell them to have spending money for the RX party. I'm not extremely fond of material things anyway, unless of course it's J Lo's used thong.

I am sorry for using the "R" word - and NOTHING EL

Mine are not worth a lot, but valuable to me none the less:

picture of me with Sugar Ray Leonard in the ring during his training

1984 New York Yankees autographed team ball from the groundskeeper at the time. Not a great team, but some decent players

And my dad's favorite: Franco Harris autograph on a restaurant napkin when we ran into him at Penn State

Serious question for anyone who has the knowledge ... is the sports memorabilia market really a viable thing? I know that baseball cards etc. are pretty much a perennial American tradition, but what about the rest of it?

I ask because I was offered an online memorabilia business and am pretty seriously considering it based on the basic numbers, but I don't really have an undestanding of the market. Management would not be hands-on on my part anyway (never underestimate the power of good help!) but it does seem like a somewhat iffy market to me. I look at crazy trends like Beanie Babies a few years ago and it just makes me shake my head in wonder.

Any thoughts? Anybody professionally involved in sports memorabilia, or who indulges in it as a serious hobby?

I have a Nolan Ryan signed ball that I got when we played his son Reed (TCU) in 1994. I felt like an idiot asking for his autographed, especially after they beat us but I'm glad I did now.

Habs, I used to have tons of top~notch stuff until I lost interest. I had, to this day, the best Joe Montana and Jerry Rice rookie card I and everyone else that ever saw them has ever seen. Also had every other top rookie (Marino, B.Sanders, Elway, etc.) 80' and up. Had an autograph Jordan SPX the very first year they were out. As I mentioned, I lost interest and let them all go. Ive started back slowly, and really prefer autograph cards directly out of packs so there is no questioning of its authenticity. Pulled a Shaq autograph out of topps chrome little over month ago. I normally buy such stuff as singles but there's always a much better feeling and fun about it when you pull something rare out of a pack.
