Diebold, the company who produces a large number of the machines to be used for touch screen voting in 2004 and oh, owned by a devout Bush-backer, continues to poo-pah discussion about the urgent need for all machines to have a paper trail in case of recount need.

What do you think? Should all voting machines be required to have a printer that provides an accurate paper trail of all votes cast?

Maybe we should hold a special election in Florida, by hand vote.

This way the phucking morons don't have to actually read and follow instructions to have their vote count.

One of the Fascist's basic tenets is to make voting and voter registration procedures difficult and tedious for the poor and uneducated. It is all part of the Elitist agenda.

And one of the Socialists major tenets is to make sure uneducated people get bussed in to vote without being educated on the actual issues, so that they can continue their attempts to drive down the quality of life for the average person and remain in control because of their grip on the uneducated.

Now, to be on topic and nonpropagandistic, I think it benefits all parties involved to insure there is a proper paper trail. I am extremely computer literate, but I would personally feel a lot better if my vote was recorded on paper as a backup to the system.

Technology is never infallible.

Bad Beat,

A paper trail is ok as a backup. The only problem is that vote buying would become an individual reality. You can now prove you voted for a particular candidate. It is amazing what someone will do for a sandwich, a bottle of booze, clean needles, a ride to the welfare office, etc.

You presume that there's a number of people who would risk a federal felony for facilitating such a transaction.

I think those people will be up to no good regardless of whether a paper trail was available.

Maybe if military personnel were smarter I wouldn't have this innate fear that the cavemen are brighter and possess greater resolve.
