He Should Have Hedged

not much room to hedge. He could have put a dime on Indy, lost and be in the hole if BJ hand lost.

This sucks, looked so good.

A td !

Still a ray of hope.

Only way to really hedge it would be to plan on selling hand. Hand is really worth $3750, should be easy enough to sell it for 3k to a Vegas guy.

The hand is $7500 but you only get the winnings, so it's essentially equal to having $3750 bet for you. A few slight differences, blackjack ( about 5% of hands) would be better this way, paying $11,250. Splitting pairs would cost double.

Most likely you wind up with $7500 or $0 ( plus the consolation). Hand has about 48-49% chance of winning.

A sharp investor would buy that all day long for 3k, even giving Sherman the consolation prize if it lost.Expected value of the hand is easily $3500+, buying it for 3k is a good buy.

This one is pretty easy.

Sherman what would you do if you won and were dealt something like a pair of 8's vs. a dealer 7. It screams for a split, but costs $7500... maybe more if you get more 8's.

i'd have to have some type of backer, i don't have the room to put $5000-$7500 on one hand of cards...

It would be $7500, maybe even $15000. Tough spot, indeed ! I'd arrange a Vegas backer too, but they'd probably want to just buy you out.

It would be difficult to make a deal where the guy puts up $7500 on 8's facing a 10. Backer would make out on hands like 9's vs. a 6.
