The students want a integrated prom, but the white parents are saying if you go with blacks, we won't support it.

“It’s awkward,” acknowledges JonPaul Edge, a senior who is white. “I have as many black friends as I do white friends. We do everything else together. We hang out. We play sports together. We go to class together. I don’t think anybody at our school is racist.”

they don't support it anyway. See the high school has a prom "black prom' and then the white students have a prom off of school property usually at a hotel. I'm from south GA ( we had intergrated) and we are about 45min from Mount Vernon (very small high school) and this is common. I know of lots of counties that do this. Personally I think its kind of stupid, BUT if they want to hold a small prom off of school property thats their right. Hell when my county was building another middle school we went to the 'black school aka Bozeman Middle/High School' for two years while they built it.

We have a story going on here right now in Philly where a woman took her daughter to Florida, but staged it as a kidnapping by 2 Black men and dialed 9/11 claiming to be calling from the trunk of her car. Story has gone nationwide now.

Well to begin with the Civil War wasn't fought due to slavery, so learn some history. Second if you think those kids want one prom your kidding yourself. The feeling of telling the NYT what they want to hear is greater than telling the truth because their names and comments will be published. If they wanted to end it, they could, it wouldn't be that hard.

Are all white students in favor of two seperate proms? Of course not, but if you think that 50% or more are in favor of one prom your also kidding yourself. Like I said they could stop it with ease, my little high school did. This is also not uncommon in GA.
