Shakes Bowl Picks

Every year, my friends and I do the same thing...pick the winner, ATS of course, in each bowl game. Last year, out of 32 total bowl games, we went for 22 wins against 10 losses. Each game was a simple wager of 110 to win 100. Last year, we saw a profit of 1100 even by winning 68.75% of our games.

Do we expect do that again?...Well, that would be awesome...this year, we decided to go and post our plays with me as the writer.

Now, we all do our own research, get together, have some grub and a couple of beers and discuss. The plays listed below are consensus...5 of us total, with all 5 in agreement for the pick. It's better than one person making the pick b/c the discussion goes into it. Part of the fun is winning the arguement and changing someone's mind. The most intriguing aspect is that you are drawing from so many different opinions and point of views.

Unfortunately, I don't have time for write-ups, so all I will post will be the team, the line (from our local guy) and the overall record.

This won't count towards our overall total but caught the collective eye...we label this as "side bet".

Now, we argued for awhile about this one but ultimately decided that the stronger conference is getting the points here so, the pick is -

So far, so good...

Wake looked pretty strong in shutting down the Navy run game and we got off to a pretty good start with the cover and win. As for the side bet, well, I gotta be honest, it was pure dumb-ass luck that we got it but man, that was fun...so here's your results:

Side bets: 1-0 (for the f*** of it)

Round Table Picks (2-0)

Colorado State was fun...never take an underdog unless you think that they can win outright and that was the arguement in our Round Table discussion...the win puts us at:

ATS: 2-0 (+200)

Side bets (re: over/unders): 1-0

Watching the S Fla game and we are looking good so far...we like but we also know it's early as well so let's enjoy the good company, the cold beers and the game...we'll see you at 3-0 later tonight.

Round Table Picks (3-0)

South Florida 41 Memphis 14

The only problem with this game was that we did not bump to a 200, or 300 etc, play. We all agreed that this was the play of the day. Our thing is to not only make some money but to also be right b/c that's what matters most...

We got bowl season off to a FAN-tastic start at:

ATS: 3-0 (+300)

Side Bets: 1-0

Now, BYU tonight is the least likely of the games that we thought would cover and win but we have been hot so we will stick with the pick. For those you who are interested, we also like the Ravens +5.5 tonight as well.

Round Table Picks (3-1)

Arizona destroyed BYU last night and at the same time destroyed the perfect Saturday as well. It's all good as we finished:

ATS: 3-1 (+190)

Side Bets: (re: o/u, NFL) 2-0

Overall it was a good start, 75%, to the bowl season and we look to keep it going tonight with:

Southern Miss (+4.5)

And, with our side action, we had a nice day overall...as for the NFL, well, speaking for myself, aside from being an Eagles fan, not a big fan of the pro game...don't get me wrong, I likey the wager, but refuse to give my money back after a strong Saturday.

If anyone out there has any pretty strong feelings about a game or two, I'll listen...

I wish I was in the 18-23 range...but we are all actually in the 28-33 range...we enjoy the gambling arts but know that there is more to life than wagering the games...we just like to hang out, play cards, enjoy some good food, (my brother's a chef...), wine and other beverages, and each other's company...it's nice to have people together for the holidays, even if the wives have to join us...football is always on in the background and makes for some good arguements...

In the summer, as Phillies fans, there's always baseball, bbq and horseshoes...in the winter, if you are going to cooped up it the house, might as well have some good company...

Anyway, enjoy the games and more importantly, the holidays...

Do you guys discuss games one at a time (day by day) or do you pick a few, play them, get back together? Just curious. I hope you all do very well.

Since we don't get together very often, we usually just discuss the games in bunches...like this past weekend...we took a good look at all the games throughout this week and in to next week...

The picks are in for the bowl games from Tuesday, 12/23 until Sunday, 12/28 (The last game of the week being the Independence Bowl on Sunday...).

I'll just post the picks daily...check again tomorrow...
