NE is getting dumped on right now, w/ a foot of snow likely by Saturday afternoon...

http://www.bostonherald.com/news/po...loyees_should_not_report/srvc=home&position=0

THIS WINTER STORM WARNING IS FOR ALL OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND EXCEPT FOR THE CAPE AND ISLANDS.

HEAVY SNOW HAS OVERSPREAD SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND LATE THIS AFTERNOON. VISIBILITIES ACROSS THE AREA HAVE BEEN REDUCED TO ONE QUARTER OF A MILE. SNOWFALL RATES OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR WILL OCCUR THROUGH 8 OR 9 PM. NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SKYWARN SPOTTERS HAVE RECEIVED MULTIPLE REPORTS OF ACCIDENTS ACROSS MUCH OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND THIS AFTERNOON. ROADS ARE TREACHEROUS.

THE SNOW SHOULD TAPER TO SNOW SHOWERS ACROSS THE INTERIOR DURING THE EVENING HOURS... BUT A STEADY LIGHT SNOW WILL LIKELY CONTINUE WELL INTO THE NIGHT ACROSS EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS AND RHODE ISLAND.

IN ADDITION... NORTHEAST WINDS WILL CONTINUE TO INCREASE TONIGHT... ESPECIALLY ACROSS EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS AND RHODE ISLAND. THIS WILL RESULT IN CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW... RESULTING IN VERY POOR VISIBILITIES AT TIMES. A SHORT PERIOD OF BLIZZARD CONDITIONS WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS EAST COASTAL MASSACHUSETTS LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND THIS EVENING.

AT THIS TIME... IT LOOKS AS THOUGH MOST OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND WILL RECEIVE 8 TO 12 INCHES OF SNOWFALL BY MIDNIGHT FRIDAY NIGHT... WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE.

AGAIN... TRAVEL IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR THE REMAINDER OF TODAY. DRIVING CONDITIONS WILL BECOME VERY DIFFICULT AT BEST. ONLY VENTURE OUT IF ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY.

A WINTER STORM WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN AN AVERAGE OF 6 OR MORE INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED IN A 12 HOUR PERIOD... OR FOR 8 OR MORE INCHES IN A 24 HOUR PERIOD. TRAVEL WILL BE SLOW AT BEST ON WELL TREATED SURFACES... AND QUITE DIFFICULT ON ANY UNPLOWED OR UNTREATED SURFACES.

Thanks AI. In addition to the occasional plays you post, I always look when I see a weather thread of yours. Haven't seen you post in awhile. BOL this weekend!

(Note to newbies: Anytime AI puts up a weather thread, it is best to check it out ~ he only reports it if it is something major or could potentially affect an outcome).

Looks like Seattle/Jets game could be interesting. We had 6 inches of snow in Seattle yesterday and we'll be right on the edge for more on Sunday.

Thanks for the compliment SDS.

Update that you need to check the weather if you are contemplating any play on any of these games, and I'd include KC/Mia and Sea/NYJ as well as the 3 mentioned in the thread's subject.

NE got a foot of snow yesterday and more is on the way tonight/tomorrow...

AI,

I miss your posts.

I did a little detective work and alas found you now have your own website. I tried to communicate but couldn't get it done without goin' through a few hoops first. (I'm pretty illiterate when it comes to this comp stuff).

Best of luck with your new venture. If I paid anyone for info (which I never have as I love the challenge of handicapping myself) it would be you. You do exceptional work.

Please drop in from time to time.

And again, good luck.

Add Mia at KC. As of yesterday it was projected to be the lowest kick off temp (20 deg). Mia will be tested. However cold it is for the chiefs, it'll seem twice as cold to the fish

Same here 25 miles north of Boston, midman.

Would be great if you could give us a "step out the backdoor" report about a half hour before gametime.

Mikey - saw your 6-1 ATS last week! Well done! Shoot me an e-mail (address is on the website) and I'll respond.

uscmd - definitely that KC game. I'm seeing temps around 9-10 degrees at kick, w/ 23 mph winds. Wind chill of -6 degrees.

And allow me to share some info I researched and passed along on Wednesday:

From 2004 thru present, Miami has won just ONE non-dome road game after week 10 of the season outside of California. That game was Week 17 in NE w/ NE resting all its key players (and Mia scored 13 in the 4th to win by 2). They have lost in: Sea, Den, Bal, Cle, Buf (twice), Phi, Pit and NE. Their road wins came in domes at Det and then this year at StL and at Buf in a dome. Their wins in California came at SF, Oak and SD.

In addition, this will be Miami's first road game on grass since Week 9 (Nov 2nd) in Denver, and if you recall, the temp that day was a Miami like 77 degrees. Looking at Miami's schedule, since their Week 3 victory in NE in September, they have played a total of 11 games. 7 were in Miami, and only 4 were on the road. And 3 of the 4 were in domed stadiums: Houston, St. Louis and Buffalo (in dome in Canada). The Denver game was Miami's only non-dome game since September, and it was a 77 degree day in Denver.

So surely the weather in KC is an issue.

How much snow during the game are the local stations calling for tomorrow? I'm seeing temps right at 31/32/33 and 100% chance of snow. I'm wondering how much? Hope you guys have a good shovel, stay warm!

I would say that the situation in KC is undoubtedly an advantage to the Chiefs.. Miami has notoriously not as good in poor weather and KC is already a hostile stadium to begin with, no matter how bad the Chiefs are the fans come out and come out loud.

It will be snowing as of now not sure how much can give you a better estimate in the morning. One thing I will say is that normally with Brady I would be very confident in the Pats as he has played in the conditions and this is the worst situation for a finesse team as Arizona obviously is. However, it might be best to stay away you have no idea what you will get out of Cassel he played college (or should I say did not play college ball) in Southern Cal and has yet to play a game in situations like this. Still, we are a more dominant run team with a better run defense than the Cards have.

Pennington has plenty of cold weather experience, so at least the Jets have that going for them. Still, his floaters will be more susceptible to wind interference than the stronger armed Thigpen, so I guess it remains to be seen whether experience or strength will win out tomorrow at the QB position.

LIFE THREATENING....

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/393104_storm21.html?source=mypi

The storm that hit the Pacific Northwest Saturday afternoon "will be life-threatening," a National Weather Service meteorologist said, and previous forecasts for the Seattle area are on track.

Updated forecast as of 10:00 PM EST Saturday for three 1pm EST kickoff weather cities:

Kansas City:

Wind chill advisory in effect from midnight tonight to 12 pm cst Sunday,

Tonight: partly cloudy. Lows around 3. Bitterly cold. Northwest winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts to around 30 mph. Wind chill readings 8 below to 18 below zero.
Sunday: mostly sunny. Blustery. Highs around 10. Bitterly cold. Northwest winds 15 to 25 mph. Wind chill readings 11 below to 21 below zero.

Boston:

A winter weather advisory remains in effect from 6 am to 10 pm est Sunday.

Steady snow returns by mid to late morning. Mixing with or changing to rain along the coast from Route 95 south and east in the afternoon. Before the changer over, a few inches of accumulation. Snow probably changing to sleet or freezing rain north and west of Boston during the afternoon, after 3"-6" inches of accumulation, but probably staying all snow from 495 North and West (4-8" or 5-10" potential). Winds NE-15-30 mph

Winter Weather Advisory: Snow will develop across the area early Sunday morning, with occasional heavy snow possible during midday and afternoon. Snow accumulations will average 3 to 5 inches. The snow may mix at times with rain before tapering to flurries Sunday evening.

Cleveland:

The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a HIGH WIND WATCH for the following counties: OTTAWA, ERIE, LORAIN, CUYAHOGA, LAKE, and the ASHTABULA LAKESHORE COUNTIES from Sunday morning through Monday morning.

A LAKE EFFECT SNOW WATCH has been issued for LAKE, GEAUGA, and ASHTABULA COUNTIES from Sunday afternoon through Monday afternoon.

A low pressure system is expected to move east and then northeast across the region Sunday morning. A strong cold front will move east with the low pressure system during the morning hours. The front is expected to usher in strong gusty winds along the lake shore and the wind could be sustained at 40 mph or greater Sunday into Monday morning.

The strong winds in combination with cold temperatures will cause wind chills to drop to about 10 degrees below zero or lower at times. If you are planning on being outdoors tomorrow into Monday morning, be sure to cover exposed skin to protect yourself from frost bite.

An inch or two is expected overnight with the front, with another inch or two possible during the day before the lake effect snow kicks in toward evening.

Snowfall totals of 8 to 12 inches of snow is possible by Monday afternoon when the snow is expected to end in Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula Counties.

In addition winds will increase to 25 to 35 mph Sunday afternoon with gusts to around 45 mph. This will cause significant blowing and drifting of snow and near whiteout conditions at times.
