New York Mets vs. Detroit Tigers
The New York Mets invade MoTown with tons of confidence to battle the Detroit Tigers after just going into Arlington and taking two of three from the defending American league champion Texas Rangers; first pitch for Game 1 of this Interleague battle is set for 7:05 ET.

Facing American League opposition has been just what the doctor ordered for manager Terry Collins’ squad who stand 4-1 and up $400 for baseball bettors heading into the series opener against the AL Central leading Tigers. After scoring 22 combined runs each of its last two games played, the Mets will be licking their lips to get a piece of Detroit starter Rick Porcello whose been lit up to the tune of 23 hits and 17 runs over the course of his L/14.2 innings pitched. New York has been a gem to back as a visitor as it’s earned a 21-19 overall record and made its betting backers a whopping $911 on the year.

Though it dropped the series opener with the then NL West leading Arizona Diamondbacks, manager Jimmy Leyland’s outfit fought back to take the next two behind fabulous pitching performances from both AL Cy Young Award hopeful Justin Verlander and Brad Penny. The two triumphs paired with the Cleveland Indians getting swept by the Bay vs. San Francisco now finds the Tigers atop the AL Central a single game ahead of the Tribe. The offense will have to contend with knuckleballer R.A. Dickey whose stuffs been flat out nasty of late; he sports a 2.70 ERA over his L/3 outings (20 IP) giving up just 16 hits and 10 runs to go along with a 17/6 K/BB ratio.

These squads have met nine times since the 2004 season; the Mets own six wins during that stretch with the ‘under’ cashing in five of the games. Detroit’s a rock solid 24-15 at home ($512) to date and an exceptional 42-10 its KL/52 Interleague battles at Comerica Park. As for the Mets, they’re 4-0 their L/4 and 11-3 the L/14 times they faced a righty, as well as a perfect 5-0 in Dickey’s L/5 starts vs. AL opposition.

PICK: METS/TIGERS UNDER

6 straight winners!

1*San Francisco Giants @ Chicago Cubs – UNDER 8.5 RUNS (+105)

Ryan Vogelsong is on the mound for the Giants, and looks to improve to 6-1 here against the Cubs in game 1 of a double header. Vogelsong is 5-1 on the season with a stellar 1.86 ERA and 1,09 WHIP. Batters are hitting just .221 against him. Doug Davis is on the mound for the Cubbies, and he has been struggling this season. Davis is 1-6 with a 5.01 ERA and 1.69 WHIP. Important to note that Davis has faired much better at home than away from Wrigley Field, and he also has pitched better in day games. Note that Vogelsong pitched 6 shutout innings against the Cubs in May. The UNDER is 4-0-1 in the Giants last 5 road games, and 6-1 in their last 7 road games vs a left-handed starter. The UNDER is also 38-16-3 in the Giants last 57 overall, and 16-6 following an off day. The UNDER is 10-1 in Vogelsongs last 11 starts overall, and 4-1 in his last 5 road starts with a total set at 7-8.5. The UNDER is 4-1-1 in the Cubs last 6 overall, and 8-1 vs NL West teams. Also note that the UNDER is 4-0 in Davis’ last 4 home starts, and 5-1 in his last 6 starts overall. Averaging just 3.40 runs per game on the season, the Giants shouldn’t be putting up many runs here at Wrigley. I love the way Vogelsong has been pitching all season, and expect him to keep Chicago’s offense fairly quiet. Love the 8.5 total set on this afternoon’s match up.
Take the UNDER.
